Could someone tell me if a 97 sunsetter vlx has the same hull as the newer wakesetter vlx? Does the sunsetter vlx put out a good wake?
Thanks for the help.... |

sunsetter vlx hull hasnt changed since its introduction. The newer ones have more hp and a slightly different dash layout - but overall the boat is essencially identical.
the wakesetter branding is effectively an options kit - tower, MLS (factory ballast), wedge, graphics, etc.
The new ones (2003 and up) are using the new 335 hp monsoon efi motor where the older ones didnt have anywhere near that much.
The VLX is the flagship for wakeboarding in the malibu lineup. |

| From 1996 when the Sunsetter VLX was introduced to 2000 it had the same hull as the 2003 Wakesetter VLX. In 2001 the Diamond Hull was added, and in 2002 the name was changed to the Sunscape 21 LSV. |

| 95 hull is the same to. the only difference in the 95 to 96 is some interior changes, for one in 96 you can lift up the back bench seat to make a sun deck. one of my best friends owns a malibu dealership |

| Yeah, except that the original poster is asking about a Sunsetter VLX and you're talking about a Sunsetter LX. |

same hull though my friend, makes no diff
if you go here http://www.malibuboatowners.com/hulls.php
you will see the hull types listed at the bottom they both have the s23v hull only diff is some interior changes and the engine options changed as well. ive been boarding behind 95 and 96 malibus for around 5 years now |

| Yeah, I wrote that article. You won't get the same wake out of a Sunsetter LX that you will out of a Sunsetter VLX, even though they do share the same hull. Plus, you can imagine the confusion if the original poster started looking for a '95 Sunsetter VLX. |

| lol, you did. good article man. and i know he was asking about the vlx, i was just letting him know all older sunsetters have the same hull will make the same wake if your just buying the boat for the wake. just leaves you with more options and ways to save money. used sunsetters arent the easiest thing to find cheap mostly cause everyone wants one for the wake |
