1. Make sure your edging is correct.
2. Load the line.
3. Get video of yourself and make sure your not standing up to soon at the top of the wake. |

Learn the progressive edge and get it down.
As soon as you hit the wake, straighten up your cut a little bit.
Keep this in mind:
The curve of the board is what helps you turn. The board is wider in the middle so when you hit the wake you have more surface area. Surface area=Pop. Correct me if I'm wrong. _________________

QNev i believe you and your 1400+ posts are right. im assuming you are just starting to air or you want to take your w2w bigger. if just starting go one wake and focus on your pop. i like to do toeside bcause you almost force the pop, that will teach the feeling of the pop. keep edging on your way out to. hope this helps! _________________ Don't Let Me In Your Boat

do short controllable approaches to the wake at first, doesnt have to go wake to wake, try to focus on stomping the wake, getting snappy pop, then slowly take it bigger and bigger till you can snappy pop wake to wake, i usually dont go into the flats for my knees, but i go really high on my heelside, my peak heights are equal to people that launch out into the flats, but i keep them wake to wake. its all about getting a feel for your wake. But ya if you wanna just sore oncontrollably at first, cut out real far away from the wake, then as your coming in try to show your bottom graphics to the boat (thats the intense edge you want for huge air) then as you get to the wake, let off the edge just enough so you can stand tall.
have fun |

yeah it's tricky to build your progressive edge all the way without going out the back. To get big w2w airs, just edge out about 20 feet, then think about shifting gears on the way in. first gear is just letting the boat pull back in for the first 5 feet, second is a slight edge for the next 10 feet, and third you really wanna show the bottom of your board to the boat for the last five feet. just make sure you wait till the top of the wake to push, and try to launch with your board still on edge. if you flatten out, you'll lose your line tension and all the energy that goes with it. the line tension isn't necessarily what launches you, but it's a by-product of the pressure your board puts on the water. the more pressure, the harder you'll get pushed up. _________________

That "shifting gears" explanation is exactly how Clay (Fletcher) explained it when he was driving the boat for us at OWC recently. It really makes sense too. |
