OK here is the setup. 3 - 13JLw7 inside our stabbin cabin. When we crank up the bass the topside fiberglass flexes causing unwanted noise. Does anyone know of a way to support the top to keep it from flexing when the bass hits? (other than having someone sit on it :p ) We have tried messing with the polarity, but it does not allieviate the problem.

open to all ideas......

thanks

"Gotewake" Your A Jack Ass! go f yourself, Moss If he saw your sett up he would know to keep his mouth shut.

Moss I saw the Video tom shot and know what your taking about
I was thinking you could use a aluminum strut tower brace, The ones they use on High Performance cars. They also make then from carbon fiber. They are real trick looking. They are used on cars to go between the strut towers and stop it from flexing. You could fiberglass one to the underside of the deck or use the bolt on mounts that it would come with,If you dont mind have in the extra holes in your deck. No big deal. The strut tower brace's are adjustable so it can be adjusted to fit the underside of your deck. Or you could have some one custom make one for you. I would use the bolt on tequnique before fiberglassing it for 2 reasons if it dosent work or you don't like it you can take it off and fill the hole's in the gell coat and #2 its proably eayser, Ill try to find a photo of what im talking about

1st) why 3 W7s in a boat? (i think its in a boat)
2nd) the reason its flexing is the power from those subs, gonan be hard to remove it, try some dynamate, and i have a feeling ull just break the strut brace
3rd) why did u get w7s? for 1/2 the price you could have gotten IDMAX 12s or Adire Brahmas Very Happy

Image Dynamics is a great company, We have the componet compression horn set in our tower, they scream, The 13W7's can handle 2000+ watts easily and I have never had any experience with ID Sub products. Its personal preference, I would be surprised that 3 12" ID max will equal the same as 3 13 W7's with 3 1000 JL mono amps to each Sub... Grant - please send some pics on the strut reinforcements...

After listening to the system this weekend, I do not think it is the fiberglass flexing that is producing the rattle. I think it has to do with how the subs were mounted into the cabin. One sub is up in the bow up off the floor stablized by the sides of the hull. The other two subs are bolted in the floor next to the cabin entry. I am thinking that the wood of the boxes is vibrating and hitting the fiberglass of the boat causing the excess rattling noise.

My reasons for thinking this is:

-You do not hear any rattle from the back or inside of the boat.
-The most noise can be heard when you are in the water directly in front of the boat. (from the sub mounted way up in the nose of the bow)
- the noise can also be heard from the front side of the boat (the subs next to the entry way of the cabin) but is much less severe.

any thoughts?
