Has anyone ever wakeboarded behind a tritoon(3 pontoons) pontoon boat, does it put out any good wake?

No pontoon will put out a good wake that you can really progress on, of course i've never wakeboarded behind a pontoon. That's based on what i've heard and seeing pontoon wakes. But if you want to try wakeboarding then i'd suggest go for it.

it'd be ok for gettin up n getting into the sport. but for going w2w or catching air, thinking about it pontoon boats don't really have a wake. they don't displace much water so there really isn't anything to hit or ramp off.

Me and wife took our boat. (20 Bowrider with tower and ballast) across the state to a fresh water river for long weekend. We took boards and out boat broke (starter) so we rented a pontoon. I rode a wakeskate behind it for a bit. Way under powered and no wake but still better than not riding at all. The wake was way flat but like someone said you could learn on it or decent for playing on a wakeskate. The lack of torque will make it harder to learn how to get it though if you have never ridden at all.

We ride behind our pontoon when we don't get to go out on a real boat Laughing It's got plenty of pull, and not bad to learn your toe-side and basics on but there is no wake. Like mneal said ..the lack of torque.

On the other hand Chad Tidwell has won the nationals in wakeboarding and wakeskating, and he 1st learned behind a bass boat.

Good luck it's pretty much impossible and you don't have as big of a wake as you could get for best results.

Yea, I don't think most pontoons will give you any kind of wake for boarding.
But I know that the first guy who landed a wake to wake Kickflip on a wakeskate usually skated behind a pontoon...so maybe look into gettin one of those haha

We own a 135hp pontoon. Yea you can get up but theres pretty much no wake to go off of. Its fine for practicing surface tricks or switch riding but you can't get much air. Thats why its good to make friends with the people that do have boats. Very Happy

Its not the end of the world to ride behing a pontoon. Our marina has a 24 premier 235 escapade with a 200 horse evinrude and a 22 foot manitou with a 225 HO evenrude. The wake isn't great but not many boats can take 11 to 15 ppl out wakeboarding at once.
