jakenj, COMMIT! If you don't commit to a raley, you could get yourself a nice little injury. Other than that, hit the wake square and look at the boat.

this is how ben greenwood and craig kennedy teach people how to do air raileys on the wakeboard... they put them on a wakeskate... you gotta get more height, come in hard. and hold on to the handle until you hit the water after clearing the wake. it hurts but trying a railey on the wakeboard is gonna hurt more.

Yeah, open-water starts is what I was talking about. Those that have done Raley's, what's the muscle group that gets the most work-out? I'm thinking abs, pulling your lower body back down straight?

Ive recently been learning them on the skate first.. We loaded up the boat and then shortened the rope to like prolly 50ft if that.. Then macked in on the skate and sussed out the rayleys its a lot shorter cut and we were going a lot slower than wake speed so the landing didnt hurt at all.. Took me prolly half a dozen goes to stop rolling over (look at the boat) and to get a clean pop straight out and pull it back in and to land on my feet with the handle..

Had a couple practices then put on my board same length, speed and everything while it was fresh in my muscle memory.. Took a few falls first up from being a bit soft and scard.. Stuck one about 7 or 8th go felt unreal.. Definnitely pop more with a board and you are much better going bigger since you got more chance of pulling it back in.. Soft attempts always end in pain..

I wont lie ive got a few bruises on my backside, sides and upper legs from falls but it wasnt really that painful.. Working on lengthening the rope now.. Did some full-length wakeskate rayleys yesterday and you have a lot more time in the air so thinking of just going straight up full length and trying them tonite.. Will see what happens.. Wink
