Go with Boss.
Thicker pipe, cleaner welds, better mounts.
What kind of boat are you putting it on?

my roomate has an extreme phat tower on his tige. It holds up well and he has not had any issues with it. It aslo is easily broken down. He likes it a lot!

I bought the phat tower just before the extreme phat tower came out. I like it a lot. Easy to fold. Not the cleanest welds although, but that does not bother me. Here are couple of pics.

Do you think if phat bud made the single board racks available as a clamp on style rack that they would be very popular?

My boat (2002 Tige 20v) came with the Phat Budde Xtreme Phat Tower. The tower is solid and the integrated board racks are okay. I have problems putting some boards into the racks, and the top racks are a bit of a problem because the boards drip right on the driver and passenger, plus you have to put one boot between the mounts so it's not very stable.

Here's a pic of my boat with a couple of boards on the rack

Quality is good and the tower doesn't rattle at all. Welds are okay but definitely not the cleanest that I've seen.

i think if we got one it would be the twister pictured in my original post, so the water dripping on the driver would not be a problem.

I think the old phat budde' towers are cool. Nice looking design, nice concept with the built in boardracks (but from the sounds of it aren't the greatest racks). The new one looks retarded. I think the new Idea of the towers in the back needs to be taken back to the drawing board, cause it's absolutely ugly. The new phat budde' tower also looks like the boardracks have the boards accessable from the inside of the boat, sounds like a good concept, but just puts them in the way I think. Go back to the drawing board with your new "space age" or whatever you wanna call them towers.
peace

That pic was taken at Lake Powell in Cathedral Canyon. It got so narrow that the bindings were rubbing on the rocks but the boat still had clearance so we just pushed it along by hand until we came to the end, which is where the picture was taken. We had an awesome time there and exploring Cathedral Canyon was one of the highlights of the trip.

Oh, and the wakeboarding was bad either!
