The reason I had the Mullet was for a 909 party that didn't really happen...

So-Cal is awesome. I dunno why u guys are talking about all this weird stuff down here, but not everyone is obssessed with area codes. Personally, so-cal would take nor-cal down in any type of sport, competition, or event.

I used to live in San Diego when I was a kid and I have to say that I did like it down there better then here in San Jose.

Mr. C check yourself before someone else does... You don't know if the SoCal riders are better than the NorCal riders. Each has great riders.
Why NorCal???
Better snow and mountians.
Better rivers and lakes.
Though colder we have great surfing just like SoCal.
IMO the people up north are more relaxed than the people in SoCal. I currently live in SoCal and don't have a beef with anyone here just prefer things up north. Don't get me wrong, OC and SD are fun places but not where I want to live forever.

The 909 is a mixture of white-trash, gangstas and the Mexican Mafia. That is why it is looked down upon. It is also the palce that former members of the LBC move to. Snoop is my friends neighbor in gated community called "The Country" in Diamond Bar, 909. People overplay the other area code war thing. And as far a getting hassled in Newport, Newport has good surf and a bunch of self righteous locals. I surf Newport all the time and laugh when I get the stink eye from some young local wannabe who is floundering to even ride a wave.

Actually I think NorCal Basketball at the HS level was stronger at the State tourney also... I even heard a team from Sacramento (Foothill) won. And after a quick glance at the CIF website more NorCal teams won state titles in basketball this year.
We can't really use college sports as a good measure due to recruiting and all that (Cal and Stanford aren't weak though). Pro sports are similar because the players are free to choose depending on money and all that. Not to mention none of the athletes are developed at the pro level.
Mr. C, I believe you made a big fat assumption and people are going to keep proving you wrong.

Garrett, I think the Nor Cal clothing revolution started with the Nor Cal Surf Shop in Pacifica. Incidentally, I think the wave quality is better up there too. If you wanna argue then go to Surfline & compare the waves in Santa Cruz & San Diego right now. Santa Cruz has been firing off the hook for like 4 or 5 months now & it's been flat or blown out down here.
The cold water keeps all the kooks out too!

whoever said that So-Cal would beat Nor-Cal in competitions is on some really strong crack! Mr. C...I think that was you...have you ever surfed up here, or wakeboarded up here, or even skated up here?? If you have, I don't think that you would be so quick to jump to that conclusion...
It's almost like comparing apples to apples...So-Cal, and Nor-Cal are almost the same thing. We just ahve better waves, and more ridable water up here is all!

Whoa guys, I'm waht you call a $h!t stirrer. Im here to cause arguments and thus allowing people to have more posts. I do say one thing for sure, So-cal definetly has stronger football programs than No-cal. Now dont start talking about that school in No-cal that hasnt lost in years, im saying if we got the best of the best from each part of state, So-cal would win.

Who cares about footbal??
Okay, just a thought....since were talking about what area is the best at sports....
who would win in a surfing tournament??
a.California....(the whole state)
b.Florida....the state
c.Hawaii....once again the state
now same choices respectively...a,b,c...
who would win a skate contest (vert, pool, and street)
who would win a wakeboard contest
who would win a snowboard contest (park, and pipe...and a little boarder X)
I think Cali. might take 50% at least.....what do you guys think??

Defintely, the only spot where we might lose would be in surfing to Hawaii.

| With respect to skating we have all the salty dogs of vert skating here so California would blow doors in that area. Actually, we have a good portion of the street competitors too. The one person who we might lose (& it would suck), although he lives in California now, is Rodney Mullen since he grew up in Gainesville.

Well he lives in California now, so he counts as he is from California. He obviously saw something here that wasnt in Florida, so he is considered a Californian i guess.

The first time I ever heard "Blue Flowers" I was shroomin balls!
Scared the s*** out of me!
I used "I'm destructive" in a skate video that I did for an advanced Avid editing course I took in college. It was tight, if I don't say so myself.
