i wanted to do one of these while building my winch, but a good friend of mine built my winch for me so i didnt get to! but anyway, this guide will help a lot of people I think, its about time someone posted a winch howto!

That's pretty interesting. Looks like a lot of work. I know I'd love to have a winch for a few instances, I just wonder how often I'd use it.

Thats a pretty cool design.. you can go a lil easier on the design and spend even less. Says on their post they managed it for under 1k as is including the 1000' of rope.

thats a heck of a lot cheaper than buying one for twenty one hundred bucks off buywake.com
