if you have a spare board you can buy two traction pads for surfing and put them on there facing oppisite directions... its a easy cool wake skate

There were instructions on wakeskating.com... don't know if they're still there. I built one a few years ago... here's a pic. It was pretty heavy though compared to the new ones you can buy.

One quick question....

About how much do you "over bend" for the glueing step?

If you intend on a center to tip rocker of 2.0", what should you set your glueing rig at?

I am about 4 months late on this one, but I am just about finished a wakeskate. I used 2 peices of 1/4 birch plywood. I had it bent with a 3" rocker on the table in the jig and after it was dry, it popped back to about 2.2" of rocker. I then put some kevlar on it so it won't break as i had the kevlar laying around in the garage from a previous project. I am right at 5.4 lbs so far and the board is 43 1/2" long 16" wide at mid section and 11" tips. Once I put a final layer of 4 ounce glass on top and bottom, paint and put the fins on and grip tape, I hope to be around 7.5 lbs. Seems the skates are anywhere from 6.5 to 8.25 lbs.

For the grip tape, I had a thought and someone let me know if this is not a good idea. As this project was to save money and use stuff I found in the garage, I was thinking if I tape off the top of the board where I want the grip tape and then epoxy that area. Pour white fine grain sand on the board and tilt the board around so the sand spreads all over the epoxy then when its dry I will have the same thing as grip tape. I did a test this evening to see how well the epoxy holds. Its rated for aircraft but its past its date stamp but still seems ok.

I actually wondered today if it will float, so tomorrow I am going to do the bathtub test and put 3lbs more weight on the board to make sure. Stupid I know, but just want to make sure.

I would mix some sand with epoxy and use that on top if you wanna go that way but id think tape would be better since you can replace it.
