|
|
| I am thinking of getting either the catalyst 2.0 or the catalyst 112. Does anyone know how these 2 compare, i know the 2.0 is all griptape and the 112 has some, but what about size wize or anything. Are they made of wood, because i've read not to buy wood ones, that they fall apart to quickly. I am going to demo them come summer, but seeing as i've never wakeskated before i'm not sure if i would be skilled enough to tell a difference between them so any help would be great. Also, are wakeskate shoes best to ride with or can you ride with any shoe?

the catalyst 2.0 is 107cm, the catalyst 112 is obviously 112cm.
They are both made very similarly to wakeboards.
You can wakeskate with any shoe, the ones made for wakeskating are made to dry faster.

| Okay, so I know I am going to get the 39.75 carpe diem, but if i have never wakeskated before should I buy with or without the fins? for $20 extra I have no problem buying them but only if I need to.

| This may be a stupid question, but the integity website says that the dic cut gip tape is included with the board, that does mean that the grip tape is on the board right? so i won't have to put it on?

no it means that the grip tape is cut to fit the board perfectly but you will need to apply it

Applying the grip tape is actually quite easy; there are even step by step instructions on the integrity website. I've done it twice, and both came out perfectly. Although, I didn't try to do any fancy patterns or die-cuts; there are some pretty sick integ grip tape designs to be found on wakeskating.com, if you're brave enough to try something different.
Here's my '05 Team, next to my buddy's '06 TNT.

ripperchick, if you take the deck to your local skate shop, they will be more than happy to put it on for you.
you are getting a great deck, i have two integs and love them both!
wakeskating.com also has a video segment with step by step instructions.

| It's about 45 min North of Atlanta, maybe not even that much. Kinda between Atlanta and the Tennesse and South Carolina borders.

Yeah, i think i will for now. I ride my wakeboard finless and i really like it. If i don't like the wakeskate without fins i'll punch holes through the grip tape where the fins should go because right now i have the tape covering the screw holes.
HHI Dave, you just got a catalyst right, how do you like that one?

I like my Catalyst but I've only taken it out once so far. I've been riding on a friend's boat for the past couple of months. It was just too much of a hassle dragging along my board and my skate along with the wetsuit, vest, and a backpack etc. Now that my tower is finally on my boat I'll be using it again and plan to ride the skate PLENTY in the coming season.
One thing though, I ride my CWB board without center fins, and I love it too. But it has molded side fins. The skates are pretty smooth on the bottom. That is going to be one SLIPPERY ride! I'll be curious to see what you think after you try it out. Congrats again.

ripperchick, you ride a wakeskate differently than a wakeboard, because your back foot is further back it sinks the tail in more so it tracks better. also since the integrity has reshapable edges you can round the edges with sand paper so it sits a little lower in the water. i recommend rounding the middle 6-8 inches and let the ends stay sharp so it edges well.
you will love that board. like nick said, "Shred it up!"
