| After the second weekend of mock up runs with the winch we managed to throw the chain a couple times. No big deal but annoying nonetheless.. Not any real big surprise either as new chains have a tendency to stretch after some load. As far as correcting the problem I thought about just sliding the engine back on its mounting plate and torquing it back down, or same concept with moving the pillow blocks forward.. but I figure that will be a never ending battle. A more permenant solution would seem to be adding a chain tensioner to keep it tight on the fly. Anyone tried this? |

if i can get another link out of there now that its run a couple times I'm definately going to do that. I think the tensioner is going to be important in the long run too. Good to know its tried and true.. thx man |

Use a tensioner. My suggestion is a skateboard wheel. _________________ ...island style... |

| When I'm thinking of a tensioner I'm thinking of something spring loaded pushing down on the bottom loop of my chain... how do you have a skateboard wheel setup? Sounds like a cheaper solution, but I'm having trouble trying to picture that. |

hey northern tool has a cheap tensoiner that you could easily mount up to your setup and save you the hassle of taking out links and adding halflinks and what not,
i did have one question for you, what gear ratio are you running on your setup, and where did you get the axle for the spool, and those nice roller guides for the rope in the front, thats all i need to get mine going |
