so i built the deck for a wake surf out of 5 layers of 3/16" ply. now i want to lay some fiberglass over it to insure that the wood won't get wet and rott. so is there some super secret, easy way to do this or just follow the instructions the best that i can on the resin container? ANY tips or advice would be greatly appreciated! _________________ I drink, I smoke, i have sex,... It's my hot body i do what i want!
If you use polyester resin it obsorbs water and needs to be sealed with marine paint...if you use epoxy (like west system) its water resistant but it isn't uv resistant so you have to ether keep it out of the sun or paint or varnish it.
If it was me I would use 2 layers of 6oz or 3 layers of 4oz fiberglass cloth with epoxy resin then I would paint it with marine paint or varish it..the lighter fiberglass cloth probably will go on easyier around the edges..
For epoxy I use 51 cure by industrail formulators because it cheaper than west system and I use interlux for paint....I am in the middle of restoring a old boat and have done lots of homework on the fiberglassing and painting so if you have any more questions email me at hazzardracing@hotmail.com
