right size but the scape is really crappy. It sound like a great deal at only 100 bucks or what ever but after my second time out on my scape the foam grip was peeling off and paint chips came off from the bottom. Unless your getting the scape for like 60bucks i would not buy it _________________ check it out http://www.wakesiderides.com/rides/index.php?page=out&id=1562 |

| dude, look at some of the smaller or rider owned companys. Kampus makes good skates for sub $200... others to check out would be Gator, Omen ($$$) Integrity ($$$) Devotid, Oak... |

hermy1291, I may be off base, but judging from some of the things I've read in this section, it appears that the skates put out by mainstream wakeboard manufacturers like LF and HL are kinda looked down upon by the hardcore wakeskaters. Seems that the smaller companies and or the wakeskate dedicated companies get the respect.
Not trying to start any sht, just the vibe I'm getting. Then again, there may also be a reason for that.
Anyone care to comment?

HHI Dave, You pretty much have it right.
hermy1291, I would suggest a medium-smaller skate (39-41) for you and definitely not a scape. For the most part, steer clear of wakeboarding manufacturers that try to make wakeskates. Most of them are a joke and you won't get anywhere close to the quality you get with rider-owned companies.
Check out wakeskating.com and all your questions can be answered there. _________________ ...island style... |

I don't think that all the wakeboarding manufacturers are bad at making skates. Look at the podiums, the guys on top are Grub, Brandon Thomas, Scott Byerly are all hyperlite, then Liquid force has AAron Reed, and Danny Hampson. That list right there is usually the in the top 10 if not top 5 at most events. _________________ check it out http://www.wakesiderides.com/rides/index.php?page=out&id=1562 |

Wakemaster_17, nowhere in nicks post do i even see him mention integrity let alone try to talk somebody into buying one. in fact he is recommending companys that will take better care of their riders while also providing them a superior board for the water.
wakeboardin2k4, your justification of these companies made sense to me too when i was about 11. these riders would get the same podium places riding for any company, riding any board. they have skills, its not the magic in the boards.
HHI Dave, hyperlite boards are usually looked down upon because of their history of making less than decent boards and an array of gimmicks. the boards have never truly been designed for wakeskaters but merely wakeboarders who will buy hyperlite because they have a wakeboard made by them. i have disliked every single hyperlite board i have ever ridden and i usually get a good laugh when i see them in person and just look at all the gimmicks and what not.
people always talk about rider owned companys because these are the companys that seem to be making the superior boards. people ride certain companys for the boards, not the company names. if hyperlite came out with the worlds greatest wakeskate today i would have one in my arsenal by tomarrow. _________________ aye |

Really? What do you think Byerly and Grubb are gonna do when they figure this out?... |

Mr. Top Hat, You say the boards are crappy and gimmicky but then you say riders like Grubb would take podiums no matter what because of their skills.
By that reasoning, one board is pretty much the same as the next and its really about the rider, right? I'm a complete noob to this, but I'm just trying to understand. _________________ Hilton Head Wake Sports.com

HHI Dave, riders like grubb are started to get ousted on the podiums now by riders like little nicky taylor and reed hanson. personally i dont really consider contests a great measure of skill in wakeskating because most of the judging is done by wakeboarders but yes, riders like grubb would still ride good on a piece of plywood. just by your reasoning im guessing you probably havent ridden that many boards(no offesnse) but trying to compare an integrity or an omen to a hyperlite is like comparing a hand grenade to a fire cracker. i honestly think that if grubb got on an omen he would ride so much better than he does on his hyperlite. plus, if you think grubb is good then go watch any video of drew daniello, blows grubb out of the water. _________________ aye |

No offense taken at all. As I stated in my previous post, I'm a complete noob to wakeskating.
My first ride on a wakeskate was actually just an old LF wakeboard with some rubber grip tape on it.
My second ride on a wakeskate was on my girlfriend's LF Melissa. It was like an elephant on a tricycle.
And my third ride was on my new HL Catalyst. I figure its a good enough skate to learn on.
If and when the time comes to justify another new skate, I will definitely check out Integrities and Omens before making a choice. _________________ Hilton Head Wake Sports.com
