I just tried wakeskating for the 1st time last week...OMIGOSH I LOVE IT!!! I don't know much about wakeboards and I know even less about wakeskates, but I'm interested in buying a wakeskate for sure. The one I used was really old & had no fins, so ehh, spinning was fun Very Happy I have no idea what size it was but I'm sure I could find out this wknd. Is there such thing as women-specific wakeskates? And how do you determine what size to get? I'm 5'10" 135lbs. Don't want a beginner board, definitely want to get something that I can still use when I'm a more advanced rider. Any suggestions?

I don't know if there's such a thing as women-specific wakeskates, unless you're just talking about graphics. The '06 LF Impulse is pink, if that's your thing.

In regards to durability, most wood skates tend to come apart after a while, with the possible exception of Oak. The LF decks we have bought ('05 & '06 impulse) have fallen apart pretty quick, although they do have a great shape & ride well. The skates the tend to last the longest are composite: Integrity, Omen, some Hyperlites. Size-wise, you'd probably be fine with a 41" for most decks, or the TNT 39.75" from Integ.

You will find much more information & opinions of different skates on www.wakeskating.com. There's also lots of discussion there regarding fins vs. no fins.

thanks for the feedback. I was asking about women-specific not for color but structure. Just like women-specific snowboards, etc. are made differently than men's boards, but I don't know if it makes any difference on a wakeskate. Definitely want something high quality, & may be able to get discounts on Hyperlite boards so I'll check it out. I'll look at the site too, thanks

No problem. I've never been on a snowboard myself; I didn't know there was structural differences btw mens' & women's boards in that realm. All the "women's" wakeboards & bindings I've seen appear to be just like men's, only with different colors & graphics. Good luck, and welcome to wakeskating.

my friends girlfriend found that she liked the small Nick taylor signature from Integrity because is was very small and fit her well but its not a cheap board, she also liked the Kampus Swing 39 but good luck finding one of those anymore

godaisydotnet, Liquid Force makes a women's skate, in 2006 it was called the Melissa, but the new one for 2007 is called the Maven. Both are 41" wood concaves, but the 2006 version had foam and the 2007 version will have grip tape.

Or just pick up an Integrity 39" Nick Taylor Pro Model. That board will take you anywhere you will ever wanna go as far as progression is concerned...
