So, no backrolls landed this season so I thought I'd give 'em a whirl on the trampoline before it gets too cold to use that. I can do forward cartwheels on the trampoline (tail over nose) but cannot do them in reverse. I know it's a similar rotation as well as it is much different in execution on a wakeboard, but if you can't do one on a trampoline would it hold you back from doing one on a wakeboard or should I just keep practicing?

Thanks Smile

Backrolls on the tramp don't help much IMO, but it can give you the feeling for spotting the landing, where to look on the way down...

I think the biggest problem I see with people who can't do backrolls on the tramp is they just don't wait to throw it (sort of like on the water! Laughing) They'll take a couple good bounces, lots of height and then when they go for the trick, they just huck it right off the jump... and it is low and they smash into the mat. Laughing

Here's what I do anyway... on your jump, wait until you are at, or just about at the peak and then pull the rope into your midsection while beginning the rotation by leaning and putting your ear to your shoulder. As long as you've waited long enough to initiate the roll, you should have plenty of time to complete the rotation and just plop down on your feet. It may seem a bit scary at first to wait the extra half second to throw it, but that's probably what you need to do and why you're not getting it.
