I skated for my first time today and loved it, Im ready to buy a wakeskate and put the wakeboard away. we dont have a wakeskate, but I used my girls board, hyperlite motive 119 and took the bindings off. (Im 5 10 175 lbs) it felt fast and loose under my feet, I tried a 1 wake jump, I was amazed the board was still under my feet when I went for the landing, then I fell. Could I just griptape this thing for now? or are wakeskates that much different?

the very first wakeskates were actually just chopped down wakeboards with grip on the top of them. hyperlite wakeskates are actually constructed very similarly to their wakeboards.

my first wakeskate was an old obrien full nelson wakeboard with astrodeck on the top of it. I actually liked it better than any other wakeskate I've ridden since and wish I could get it back. I think that the bouyancy of the board made it easier to ride and stick tricks. I was landing w2w 180's the first time I rode it. It took me a long time to accomplish that once I started riding the wood boards
