My girl does stuff for me all the time, one time we went to the lake and she was sick as crap and she still came to watch me and my crew, plus she brought me food. That is a day I wont forget.

B-Rad, you wouldnt be refering to the chica from the party, any luck with that?

P-Chick, what you just described is the dichotomy between what women say & what they do. It's the perennial question of "Why do women date jerks?"

See, all of the women I know have at one point or still do say that they just wanna meet a nice guy who will treat them right & be a gentleman blah blah blah, but then they turn & find the scummiest, low-down dirtiest piece of trash they can & date him.

I think it's 'cuz the nice guys come off as nice 'cuz they're needy. They'll drop everything for you & treat you like a queen, but that's 'cuz they don't have anything else. The guys who won't give you the time of day seem to have their act together & won't expect so much outta you emotionally so you're drawn to that (it works both ways, guys are attracted to women who are "hard to get"). The problem is that women don't say that, they say the exact opposite. You're a confusing species, you know that? Rolling Eyes

I'm on the verge of not being single. And its quite and odd postion. THe girl is older than I am and as far as I'm concerned pretty out of my league. But I had stepped up and publicly sang for her and asked her to prom, and we went. And now things are clicking. But I don't understand how, or why. Odd shizzle. Women are definetly impossible to figure out.

i feel sorry for a lot of my guyfriends that are in relationships. their girlfriends are always telling them what to do. i believe there should be compromise. i would let my boyfriend do what ever he wants, guys need some room to move, some freedom. they're only dating, and these girls are making them remember pointless dates. 'hey it's our two week anniversary'. i can't even spend time with them anymore.

oh well i'm staying single. forever. i did everything for this guy hoping we'd hook up and he decides to go out with one of the 'hot and she knows it girls'. Evil or Very Mad

Kim, I get the feeling these guys are rather desperate then. I don't take any of that from girls. I find things are always better when it's never official. I really enjoy being in a loose relationship, where you never actually make the dating thing official, but you both feel the conection and know whats going on. And then you just get your mushu as it comes and have fun. That's the good way, no need for all this super serious stuff.

thanks aubs.

Snow Skate Wake - thats the kind of relationship i want. but some of my friends are in relationships they've always wanted to be in. where they liked this girl for so long and finally asked her out, and some are in their first relationship. so they have no backbone.

I geuss whatever floats your boat. The way I look at it, you don't really need a relationship when you are young. I mean I'm still in high school and all of those full on realtionships seem so pathetic to me. The truth is we all need a little lovin' sometime, and there is no problem with a intimate type relationship for a little while, but most of the time all we really need is a little sex and someone to have fun with.

Any woman that can tolerate a man and his toys (bikes, boats, wakeboards) and his tantrums is cool.

The idea that a woman suddenly changes when you get married is not true in my experience. I presume that Jester is not married.

As for his friends 'having' to call their wives when they go out here are some possibilities -
1) They want to say hi to the wife - I call my wife or she calls me a couple of times each day just to say hi & so that i can talk with mini-me
2) They have been caught screwing around previously and aren't trusted
3) They married the wrong girl.

Women don't change when you marry them - you just have to marry the right one for you.

Josh - can we presume that you aren't married and therefore don't know what you are talking about ?

Here's what I did last weekend with my wife & mini-me after we went wakeboarding.

Married life is fantastic. You want to try it B4 you knock it...

Example 1: One of my buddies will absolutely NOT hang out with me on the weekend 'cuz it's the "only time" he & his wife see each other during the week. But she goes on retreats & trips all the time for the whole weekend. So basically he's not allowed to hang out with his buddies if she's home for the weekend, but she's allowed to leave if she wants.

Jester - 2 possibilities - the guy is a wimp or his wife doesn't trust him when he's out with you. Have you upset her in the past ?? Maybe your friends are using this as an excuse to not go out with you...

Jester wrote:
Example 2: TONS of my married friends do this to me. I'll plan an activity WAY in advance 'cuz I know you hafta do that with your married friends. It does no good, they'll call me the night before or even the night of & go "Sorry, my wife's having a hard day & she wants me to stay home tonight" or some other kinda crap like that...

Jester - are you as opinionated about marriage to your friends as you are on this forum. I guess a night out with you would be listening to you rant and rave about how bad marriage is ? Maybe your friends are using this as an excuse to not go out with you...

Jester wrote:
Example 3: I called one of my fraternity brothers up & invited him to see "Old School" with me 'cuz I figured we're both older guys who were in a fraternity so it'd be really fun. He agreed; until he consulted his wife. Then he called me & said "My wife doesn't wanna see that, she wants to watch something else." I went to the movie without 'em.

A few chill pills may help. You invited a friend to see a movie & he didn't go - jeez - that must have really hurt. Maybe your friends are using this as an excuse to not go out with you...

Jester wrote:
Example 4: ANY time I'm out with a married friend without his wife he will make AT LEAST 2 phone calls home to let his wife know what he's doing & when he'll be home; unless she calls first (which they often do). They will even do this at a bachelor party.....

Up to him - see my previous post. My wife only calls me when I'm out if she's worried about me - that happens about 6am. Do your friends not have the abilitiy to switch off their mobiles ?

Jester wrote:
Example 5: Few of my married friends stay out past 9 or 10 pm. If you know there's an activity you wanna do that will run past this time you often hafta lie in order to get them to go, otherwise you'll get shut down.....

Maybe the way that you rant & rave and make wild generalisations is the reason that by 10PM your friends have had enough anyway.

I often use my wife as an excuse to get out of a major drinking session that will give me a huge hangover the next day.

If you are pressuring your married friends to do stuff they don't want to do, then maybe they'll use their wives as an excuse. You need to make friends with the wives so that they trust you to go out with their husbands.

Of course, there's sure to be the odd complete bitch out there but are you really saying that ALL of your friends have bad wives ? Are you sure you aren't to blame ?

It seems to me that a lot of the cool chicks that I know are not dating people and they like to stay single. Kind of a win/ lose situation for the rest of us out there. I think the coolest thing a chick can do is a "random act of kindness". When they can remember that you had a favorite hat a few years ago that was taken by a friend. Then happen to see it at a store one day and pick it up for you, that is great. I also like it when they just show up at your door one night with a 12 pack of Rolling Rock and want to sit around and drink beer by the pool.

Pedro, you're right, I'm not married, you woulda known that if you'd read my other posts. All these guys made me not wanna get married.

If my buddies hafta hide behind their wives to get outta hangin' with me rather than just telling me then they're even bigger wusses than I thought. You are too if you can't just tell your buddies that you don't wanna go drinking 'cuz you don't wanna deal with a raging hangover. What happens if your buddy finds out the truth? Then not only do you hafta deal with him being pissed that you lied to him, you hafta deal with your wife 'cuz she probably doesn't appreciate being your human shield.

For the record, a lotta the people in this thread have agreed with me so far. You're obviously biased since you're married, but I also said that would happen in my first post so I'm not surprised. What does surprise me is that it took this long for somebody to post an angry response. Mr. Green

for me, a cool chick is outdoorsy...likes rock climbing, all types of boarding, fishing. one that will go with me no matter what im doing if i want her to, and wont question me if i tell her im just going out with some friends and it would be cool of her to not go. an excellent christian and also attractive (hot preferably)...and an awesome personality.i can think of one right now that fits all of those.

I think another decideing factor is that she HAS to get along with my friends. I couldn't date a chick that did not get along well with them. I have a large network of friends, but she would have to at least get along with the "Core" group I hang with.
