Just finished the canisters tonight. I will put the speakers in them when the boat get's here. Four 6 1/2" JL Audio coaxials and two 8" JL Audio subs. The polished swoosh matches the side of the boat.

Pheaton, you obviously have skills. Quick questions, it looks in the picture that shows the one 3 canister set, that the canister on the rt. is smaller than the one on the left. If that is the case, will the brackets line up, as they need to be paralell(sp). Looking at the picture showing both set from a side view, it does appear that the inside canister brackets are lower than the outside. Have you tried mounting on a tower yet?
Anyway, sorry for the long question. They look great, I wish I had those kind of skills. Good Luck!

NAW, Should pick up the boat the week of the 19th.
Johnny G, The canisters are level on top. The outside can is 8 1/2" and the two inside cans are 7 1/8". The clamps are just sitting on the cans. I will drill the whole for them when the boat get's here.

| Can you say what those brackets set you back? I am still looking for better prices on brackets. For my cannister I made, nearly 60% of the cost was brackets...

OK, no mass production...
What made you want to create your own? I want a set but just don't really want to spend the $1,000+ the dealer said it would cost to do it "right." Any suggestions? I want something that looks as good as yours do. I don't want what some of these other guys are doing with muffler straps and outdoor home stereo speakers or PVC pipes or ???
I'm really not that into the stereo thing...I have no clue what croosover is or any of that crap....I've got the typical Clarion CD/amp/woofer/4 speaker MC setup. The dealer said I would need an add'l amp to power the speakers. I really don't have the time to research it.
Can someone tell me what I really need, what the cost will be and how I can order it?

Get2TheRiver, It all cost money. The bigger and louder it get's the more money it costs. You will need an amp to run the tower. Then probably a good idea to run another battery.
I was going to go with the Boss B-530's and the B-50's. I heard that the 530's have a problem of breaking but there new design was even better. Well they were like $1800.00 for the new 530's and $900.00 for the new 50's. No way was I going to go for that. Mine cost less than half of that to make and will sound way better. I used a higher end speaker compared to the MB line they use and gotta love subs up on the tower. My last boat had them also. Here is a pick of the last boat set up that i made.

I had the end and flange cut on a plasma table. They are out of 1/8" aluminum also. Then tig welded them in place.

That kicks a$$ Do you need 2 subs, or will 1 be alright on the tower I'm just trying to not spend every penny I have on my boat.
I have two infinity's thru an amp up there now, but I dont get a clean sound at all. I was wondering if it was the housing (just like yours) Or do I need a more powerful stereo; Mine is stock.

jbelson, more is always better. Sounds like you need to up the power to your infinity's and then they should come alive.
ADAM B KENDALL, Those are 8" kicker subs. Yes MB has some kickin stuff way spendy. I was referring to the JL Audio speakers XR650cxi I will be using on the new boat.

grady, here we go
You know the tower. Amp that will run it will be a JL Audio 450/4 That's 250 watts per sub and 150 per 6 1/2" coaxial.
Boat six 6 1/2" coaxials running off another JL 450/4 amp 150 watts to four and 125 to the other two.
Three JL Audio 12W6v2 1000/1 amp running two and 500/1 amp running the other.
There will also be neon, plexi and a mirror involved in the install. should be awesome.
