Does anyone know how many drips of water/minute are meant to come in through the prop shaft seal?

Should be around 2-4 drops per minute.

This is what I've heard from other inboard owners (2-4 drops/minute), but according to my manual:

1. No static leakage is permissible;
2. Operating at cruising speed, 10-15 drops/minute is normal.

I've been checking for the 2-4 drops/minute at idle speed. I don't really want to check mine at "cruising speed."

Many people just try to get it so it is not dripping when not turning and dripping "just a little" when it is turning. If you can do that, it's probably fine. More drips is better for the life of the packing.

HTH.
