Laughing Laughing Laughing

We took my buddy Matt's 28' parasail boat out today. Another buddy of ours (Toby) came along too. Toby used to run a wakeboard charter locally taking tourons out wakeboarding and waterskiing. He was a wealth of knowledge and (among other things) taught us the double up.

All I can say is "HOLY CRAP!" Crazy Eyes Laughing I got more height and more distance today than I ever have before. Managed some indy grabs(hey, I'm a newb) and a tail grab. I actually managed to go W2W and landed it clean twice. I also pulled off a nosedive and faceplanted so hard that I came completely out of my Torqs for the first time ever. Ouch! Puppy Eyes

Anyway, I just wanted to share that. It was a great day. Part of the reason why I have fallen in love with this sport is that every time we go out, there is some sort of an improvement or milestone. What a great way to spend a day.

Haha, nice. The double up definitely does give you more air, did you get any pics or videos of it?

It's in the glossary, When the boat circles around and cross back over it's own wakes at about a 90-degree angle, the wakes converge causing the resulting wake to be twice the size. This is the Double-Up. If the rider times it right, they can edge in and hit the Double-Up, which will give them more air then normal.

yeah, the boat just's crosses its own wake. It's kinda hard to get the timing right and hit the D-up though.

Yeah, timing is definitely a big part of it. Once the boat made the turn, I focused intently on the wake I was about to cross over. I edged out on my toes and counted the "waves" we crossed over our own wake. I rode over #1 and #2 and then edged in off the back of #2 to hit the wake heelside just as it connected with wake #3. Just like being shot out of a cannon! Laughing

Nope, no camera that day. We were just focused on riding. Smile
