|
|
I still have a long way to go, but before this past June I'd never been on a wakeboard before in my life. The last month or so, I've really been concentrating on surface tricks. I feel pretty satisfied with my skill level based on roughly 3 months of riding.
Over the winter I plan to:
1. Put a tower on my boat
2. Stay in shape
3. Get in as much training as possible (trampoline, weighted handle etc)
4. Get a wetsuit and get back in the water by March.
This was filmed this weekend. Any of you old pros want to give some tips, feel free. And for the true wakeboarding newbs, hang in there. Just a few months ago I was reading the "How do I get up on a wakeboard" threads too.

Now i'm kinda stuck on the "how to Jump wake to wake" threads i'll have to watch it later sucks the season is almost over havent gotten very far with jumping and getting across the wake although i can land practically everyone of them even if they are only like 2-3 feet practice makes perfect though! |

That is a lot of 180's, can you do a surface 360? You should probably work on your w2w jumps and your progressive edge as well. But nice video, thanks for showing us . _________________ It won't be easy, but when I get there it will be one of the most satisfying journeys of my life. |

Almost got a surface 360 this weekend but caught an edge and wiped out HARD!
Yeah, I also practice edging and jumps. I'm also getting closer to landing a W2W 180. If you saw the very end of the video, I almost made it.
The video was mainly to highlight that I was getting better at the surface 180's after having just learned to do them. Also, keep in mind that I'm 41 years old...hard for an old dog to learn new tricks, but I keep trying. |

Wow, you're 41? It really didn't look like it. Anyway, nice job on the 180's. And 360's are pretty much trial and error. A nice idea for when you're working on those is that you should have the boat driver go 12-15, it will hurt less when you catch the edge. Good luck with those 360's. _________________ It won't be easy, but when I get there it will be one of the most satisfying journeys of my life. |

Thanks man. I don't act 41 either.
I've probably got about another 4-5 weeks of riding left before its time to get out of the water for the season. My goal is nail the surface 360 and the W2W 180 during that time.
I hope. _________________ Hilton Head Wake Sports.com

HHI Dave, with those surface 180's just go in toeside so you land frontside, it'll make them easier. And I guess you're young at heart. _________________ It won't be easy, but when I get there it will be one of the most satisfying journeys of my life. |

Thanks! I'm really fortunate in that I've gotten to ride at least once a week, and usually twice a week, all summer long. I think that has helped me progress much more quickly than someone who only gets to go out sporadically.
I just ordered a wetsuit today. I should be able to extend my season quite a bit and get back into it earlier next year. Now I just have to save up the rest of the $$$ for that tower. |

do you use a ski pole right now?
and also you are doing great, it's amazing how much the landscape differs from North Carolina lol especially considering our waterway connects lol.
keep up the good work, and nice board! |

I was out today. Another benefit of wakeboarding, its a great hangover cure.
My wetsuit will be here this week. I plan to ride at least until November or so. |

not exactly, at my boats dealership they have these ski poles that dont need ropes and they get installed on your boat, i guess it's a new type of thing, but it is verry verry different from a pylon. but it's not as tall |

Thanks.
BTW, I'm not worried about a 15 year old keyboard commando, especially after watching THIS. LMFAO! _________________ Hilton Head Wake Sports.com

jlaws, so it's basically a pole that comes out from in front of the motor...(like a pylon) but it has not ropes or anything (unlike a pylon)? _________________ It won't be easy, but when I get there it will be one of the most satisfying journeys of my life. |
