I've been doing some research on buying a V205 or an X-Star around the 2000 year model, give or take a year or two. What I am curious about is what was the price of say a reasonably equipped 2000 V205 and maybe a reasonably equipped 2001 Xstar bought brand new. I ask because I am curious as too how much the boats have depreciated over the 6-7 year period.

I also want to know what people think about them holding their value going forward. There is significant demand for the boats now, but with newer models getting older and cheaper as each year goes by, do you think demand will slow down as people can buy a reasonably priced, say 2005 CC or MC in the future.

Also, how does fuel consumption on the older boats rate compared to newer models out there? I was dead set on buying new, probably Centurion, but as time goes by I'm leaning more and more to the older model MC.

The price has not varied that much on similarly equipped boats that I have looked at recently. There have been exceptions, but for the most part a 2001 Xstar has been similarly priced to a 2001 205V with maybe just a little bit of a premium. I have seen sweet variations of both boats, but I tend to go more with plain colors and a clean appearance.

What about fuel consumption between the older boats and the newer model boats? Is there going to be significant differences one way or the other, or is it close enough it shouldn't weigh into the decision.
