sorry, wasn't really sure where to put this but, my dad wont let me put a tower on our boat, so i was wondering what the best alternative would be, because right now i'm kinda using the hook on the back of my boat (lol).
if you could post links or pictures to the item that would be much appreciated
thanks, josh. |

| I guess the only other thing that you could do is put a pylon in. I personally don't like them because they take up so much space. Or just deal with the hook. |

Yeah you're pretty much stuck with a pylon or the hook.... _________________ It won't be easy, but when I get there it will be one of the most satisfying journeys of my life. |

somebody just told me about a ski pole where they install it into your boat, instead of a pylon, and you can take it out (i guess) no ropes or anything..
is that basically the same thing as pylon or what? |

jlaws, it will still need to hook to the front of the boat otherwize it will bend. You can still take it out. The thing about pylons is they look like crap and they take up so much room, but hey the price isn't bad. _________________

Hey inmate, you wakeboard on lake catherine? That lake is amazing. I go there every year. If you were out there about 3 weeks ago, you may have seen me: blue monterey, no tower, white bimini top, and possibly a guy doing nothing but nosegrabs and mutes. Or maybe a kite tube? There aren't a whole lot of boats out there. There's the red mastercraft, the mastercraft with the extended pylon, and the malibu. Then I saw two I/Os with towers come out on saturday when it thundered. Also, another I/O pulling a pair of wakeboarders. Any of those you? Probably not, but those were the only boats I saw with wakeboard setups and we ran the entire length of the lake 3 times a day for a week, so I thought I'd check. _________________

You'll need to go with the pylon then
I have a Fligh High Pylon and it does the job very well...
It takes indeed a lot of space away, but a tower was to expensive then

We built our own Ski pole using a six foot section of aluminum tubing.
We bought a two foot section and welded that to mounting brackets that are bolted to the front of the transom between the rear seats. The six foot pole is SLIGHTLY smaller in diamater and slides into the shorter piece mounted into the boat. We then welded a cap to the top with a hitch ball mounted in the middle and placed a ring over the ball that we smashed into a slight oval for a pivot. It does flex but works perfectly. We pull the hell out of it pulling 200+ LB skiers slalom. My brother in law is the cats ass working with metal.

If his dad won't get a tower, why would he get an extended ski pylon? A tower takes up less space and is collapsible. A guess a boom works too. Here's a link to a different sort of device. A bit pricy though: http://www.sikorsky.com/file/popup/0,9604,1696,00.pdf
It looks like the best alternative to a tower to me. Save up. _________________

BobbyChicken,
thats pretty sweet. but none of those were me. My boat hasn't been running the past couple of weeks. Im hoping to get it running sometime here pretty soon. I ride behind an Aztec Sunstar w/ a pole in the middle of the boat w/ a wakeboard tower on it. Yeah next time you come to lake catherine you ought to say something and you could come out with my buddies and me. _________________ Pain is temporary

Just get somebody in the boat to stand up and hold the rope over his head. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

I don't know if this question was directed to me but I did forget to clearly say that we can take the larger section out leaving only a two foot section mounted against the transom just infront of the engine. It's really completely out of the way when using the boat for other stuff besides boarding and skiing..... But why would you do that???
