Hey whats up. This is my first post but ive been here for about 6 months downloading videos and readings forums and learnin who everybody is.. (ive been watching you Wink )

Im just starting to learn HSFS 180s. On my hs 180s ican go big into the flats but i have a hard time landing them on my switch toes. On my switch 180s tho I can land them every time and they have come easy to me. first try and had them since, but i cant seem to ever take them w2w like my reg stand hs180 but i feel a nice clean rotation and land comfortable.

I find it easier to clear the wake on a big TS 180 then just a w2w jump. Does anyone know why this is? This is my first year but ive gone out everyday since my last spring break since i just now got a boat and ive been wantin to try it since high school.

oh ya ill be uploading a video of my ts fs 3 sometime tomorrow but i keep messin it up and some times i get way offaxis i think im throwin it to early tho and not waitin for the pop. Im havin a hard time landing blind, when i try to do blind 3s and think about never letting go of the rope i dont rotate enough or ill land kinda side ways and loose the rope.

The picture i uploaded is a pic of me about to go around for the handle ive already done the 180 rotation on my ts3. To show yall my air what my riding looks like at this point. I can get big ass air into the flats on both sides and i wanna start doin inverts.

sorry for the long post had alot to say... Very Happy

hs fs 180: to learn them just take them small and w2w until you get used to them. then start taking them bigger. throw in a nice grab for style points.

sw hs fs 180: just keep going bigger until you can take it w2w.

ts fs 180 are sometimes easier than ts w2w because it's a heelside landing and you tend to want to open up and do the 180 anyway.

don't land blind on the ts 3. go ahead and do the handle pass. pop first, set your axis, then go for the spin. the ts 3 is really easy to get around.

well i wouldn't be jumping ahead to blind landings if i were you. just go ahead and make the handle pass. if you're landing blind then you should throw a grab in there. i would learn the blind landings by going inside out sw ollie bs but i'm not very good at them.

Can i go ahead and try a Scarecrow if im comfortable doing BIG toeside 180s and jumping the wake toeside. I have to note ive never tried anything inverted yet. going inverted on HS seems bad news to me for some reason even tho its my biggest air side. I can get big air just doing grabs toeside if you will look in my pic thats a crappy wake and i feel like i get pretty high off it toeside and very big off my heelside. I feel more comfortable wanting to start off doing a front flip style trick off my toeside then a back flip tantrum style HS.

or should i wait and learn to dial this ts 3. tho ive heard spins and flips are not alike. I can be workin on both of these tricks they are just building blocks for something else down the road?

For your 180s just spend some time carving around swich. That will really help your swich landings. for your 360s it sounds like u r spinning too early (i think u said that). I practice 360s by doing surface 360s over and over on a kneeboard. It really helps. also if u have a trampalean u can work on 360s but make sure u USE a rope and handle that is tied to something sturdy like a tree. If u want to try inverts i would dial your 360s and 180s and then probably try a tantrum or a backroll over a scarecrow. Hope this helps good luck! Wink

i would try a backroll or a tantrum before the crow. your ts 3 attempt really didn't look too bad. you can wait longer to spin. you can pass the handle just before you land. it looks like you overrotated a little bit. just keep trying it, you'll get it.

Ive been watchin the video and i noticed on takeoff i dont bring my backfoot up at all to "level out" the board. is this bad?

also i looked at how im spining. my arms are both kinda out to the side of my body and i dont throw the hand behind my back with both i just use one and look for the handle with my other arm. is this bad?

once i delayed my spin till i was at least in the middle and i solely focused on using both hands to bring it to the farthest i could on my back and i remembered i spun what felt to me... "very clean" my spin didnt seem so "not clean" in my opinion and i actually spun so fast i landed switch but didnt have the rope but i landed so clean that i didnt fall i just stoped like letting go of the rope and i noticed i was switch stance (540 baby)

any ideas on this?

To my opinion you should look at the wake behind you while landing your ts 360. The problem is that you overrotate it and slide on your heels.
landing is realy the hard part of this one.
You also should try the ts 540 wich i land more often that the 360.

On your toeside three, like you said, you're spinning too early. You actually have started your rotation as you're leaving the wake, and that's not good. It's helpful to think of a ts 3 as being 2 separate 180's. Try taking ts 180's straight up with a smooth rotation. If you're doing this correctly you should have a reasonable amount of tension on the rope. From here, all it takes is a solid but smooth pull of the rope onto you right hip (with a slight turn of the head to your left) and you'll have the full rotation. Thinking about it this way will help 2 things: you'll be less likely to overrotate, and you'll be less likely to go off axis (no landing on the heels).

Regarding the landings, I see no reason whatsoever why you shouldn't go ahead and get comfortable with landing wrapped. You'll usually want to pass the handle, but it won't be 100% necessary. Also, when you land blind you should be in the correct position to land wrapped regardless of whether you plan on passing the handle or not. It puts you in the right body position with the correct balance. The best way to learn is by doing ollie bs 180's in the flats, and then doing them inside out to get the feel for landing on the downslope of the wake with a little rope tension.

The scarecrow? You might as well go for it. I believe that people should try whatever invert feels most comfortable for them first. Scarecrows are really easy if you get the right pop. You'll want to edge in hard at first, but then back off on your edge a little before you get to the wake (note, if you lose all your rope tension when you back off you're backing off WAY too much). This will have the effect of bucking the board around when you hit the wake. Other than the right edge, the next most important thing is to keep the handle low and close to your hips. If you're arms go up, chances are you'll underrotate. Best of luck!
