No. They're not worthless you just have to understand what they're for before you buy them. They're for docking/trailering. I usually will use the back lights if it starts to get dark when I'm pulling someone, but other then that they are pretty much for docking, and I find them to be quite handy for docking. _________________ wakeboards

DRAGON88, Seconded. Right on it.
wakelover11, Many people think they are for riding at night or for navigation. If this is their purpose then you will need a hell of a lot! _________________ www.AxisBoats.co.uk | www.Malibu-Boats.co.uk |

My instincts say YES. And the fact that Lcap is almost always dead-on when it comes to boats also makes me want to say yes...
But they actually arent worthless. I want a set myself. Inset bow landing/docking lights, I have been told, are more worthless and lacking in breadth of uses than tower lights. I was told that not only by people here, but by one of the local Correct Craft dealerships in my neck of the woods.
In general I am not a huge fan of crazy accessories and "bling" but I would be suprised if my boat makes it through this winter without gaining tower lights. Riding at night is an arrestable offense in most states and is insanely dangerous so - don't do it. Tower lights are great for night landings and let's face it - a tower-lit wake boat looks completely badass.
I want these pups:

I made the comment based on the places I boat. Lake Chelan/Columbia River/Lake Washington almost always has logs, debris and or dead heads in the water. It's not possible for me to miss these obstacles in the daylight much less twilight or darkness. I usually waste at least one prop and have to replaced a year. And I'm extremely careful!
I should have clarified my comment to my experience, my apologies.
And anyone riding in Lake Chelan or the Columbia river next year--be careful! After the wildfires that are still burning there will be more trees in the lake the size of telephone poles than you can imagine. _________________ I hope the weather is calm as you sail up your heavenly stream |

If any of you camp off the boat they come in handy there too. |

| you can wake surf pretty good with the tower lights accually. However they are generaly pretty useless because you will get a wicked ticket. The only night skiing I have done is at 1 am with a full moon. That was sweet and the water was pure butter. We didn't use the lights at all they accually hurt your night vision so you could see less. If you live on a private lake than I say great investment. |

| Don't recommend them for the Malibu's with the Illusions tower because they are placed under the bimini which causes a glare on the windshield because they dont reflect up or out. On a tower with the bimini below the speakers and light they work but really don't do much for you visiblilty because your surroundings disappear due to you eyes seeing light and when you look away and the light is gone you cant see s.... |

seems liek this question gets asked once a month. I use mine almost every weekend. I live on a lake, and docking at friends houses at nite after a few beers the lights really help. We also nite surf quite a bit and they are great. If my boat is ever on a trialer there're great for cleanup at dusk/nite. For me they were a great investment. I made my own boss 5 light bar look-a-like for around $250. Alto depends on the lights you get. I choose some 55w (amber beam color) projector beam lights. The amber aren't quite a bright as normal white lights, they reduce glare as well as don't attract as many bugs. _________________ LED Concepts |

| It's called the Delta in Norcal, and there's 100's of miles of sloughs. If you ever get caught out after dusk, you'll be praying for all the lighting in the world!!! |
