Deep breath.
Ok, for starters, what do you ride behind? You are going to want to base speed and rope length off of what's pulling you. As far as a board goes, I might have a slightly biased opinion, but if you want an awesome skate that will take you from the basics to the most advanced tricks possible, that will also last you basically forever (unlike the majority of wakeskates out there), then I would say go for an Integrity wakeskate. I've ridden a lot of wakeskates, and of all of them, the Integrity is by far the best. Whatever you choose to do, if you are wakeskating, have fun, it's seriously all that matters.
Wakeskating's a source, it'll change your life, swear to God

Well the real question is how much are you willing to spend... because i just got Nick Taylor new pro model the "Carpe Diem" and let me tell you its the best but it comes to about $300 or more...
When i was just starting to wakeskate i had a cassette flat it was great.

I tried wakeskating for the first time today, alot of fun and I need my own board naturally.
Any suggestions?
I rode a hyperlite that had a rubber overlay on the deck. Any other skates like that? I'd prefer to stay with something like that so I dont need shoes.
I'm 6'5" 230 _________________ WakeSurf and Wakesurfing News |

Rhawn, barefoot is fun and all when you are first starting, but if you really want to progress foam or not, you are going to want to ride in some shoes. You can use an old pair of shoes (maybe something you use to cut the grass), or you could pay 30$ and get a pair of chucks or something to skate in.
I've tried foam and grip, and I'm a grip tape fan, mainly b/c it gives a better feeling between my feet and the board. But it's whatever floats your boat.
Being 6'5", and 230, you may want to look at larger boards (something around a 42 or 43.... here is a GREAT DEAL on a concave wood board http://www.buywake.com/catalog/detail/ibZZ9
Gilbert, in terms of speed, try around 20 mph, and if it seems like you are being pulled over the front of your board while up and riding, you are going to fast, and if it feels you are leaning back and are struggling to stay standing up, you are going to slow. Hope that helps |

criswb, You're gonna want to lean towards smaller skates. 38-40" would be your best options. _________________ ...island style... |

| Go what ever speed your comfortable at. There's no written code. Its all personal preference. I ride at 23 or so maybe faster maybe slower. As for size of a board, its the same thing. I ride the TNT 39 and i love it with all my heart. |

fresh food, the 43 would be fine but you could go smaller, 41, even 39. It's mostly preferance. Not like wakeboarding, none of this weight stuff. _________________ Take off you hoser |
