We are selling our 2002 X-10. We want to upgrade with a bigger boat/ better wake. We tested the X-Star (too $$$) the X-15, X-2, Malibu VLX and the Malibu 23 LSV. The Mastercraft X-15 has a great wake and is very roomy. We loved it. I was able to clear the wake first time out and it was very rampy so landings were soft. The Malibu's look great and drive like a sports car. The wakes were not as big as MC but a little narrower and steeper in shape I found. Both boats rock.

This is such a big deal to us. We work to ride. It is something that I think about almost everyday. So any advice you folks have would help a ton.

Thank you!

The MC wake was Wider than the Bu? dang. I've never ridden behind a X-15, but I know bu has pretty wide wakes. Anyways, We've got a Malibu VLX, and absolutely love it. Problem free (aside from very very minor stuff, nothing that absolutely required missing any ride time) and very solid. The wakes are perfect for my style, perfect blend of rampy and peaky, depending on weight and wedge.

MC 15 has a fun wake. If anyone has to have a Mastercraft I suggest giving it a try. It does not have the pickle fork. So it rides smooth and has a large cabin (human ballast), and the wake is as wide as the X-star just not as steep. We only had three people in the boat with factory ballast and when I was pulled, the wake was a pleasant suprise. Heres a factoid. the MC15 is the Maristar 215, so if you know anyone who has the MARISTAR 215 you can throw the X-package on that and get the same wake.

But...

The BU is a little narrower and steeper so you seem to get incredible height POP out of the wake, it planes faster, the cruise control gets you to speed faster, it has a longer wake path (you can ride at 60,65,70,75 and still get a clean ramp) where the MC you are restricted more to the 60-65 lengths.

LaKeIaLaUKE, what length do you ride at?

Get the one with the wake that fits your style of riding the best.

No different than at any other length, I would suspect. I've never had a knee injury, just a hairline fracture on my lower leg, but I blame that on my hard-landing board. Since i got a softer board, no injuries to my legs

LakeIolaLuke,
Thanks for all the info, Me and my husband just went and looked at the Malibu 23 LSV again at lunch. It is nice. Black and White out w/ white and graphite in. Illusion X tower, we can get it with double racks on both sides, heater, exteneded Bimini and a few other extras for the same price as the Mastercraft stock. I'm starting to lean towards the Malibu.

We'll see...
