I'm for gun control on a limited scale.....convicted felons should never be allowed to own a gun, even for legitimate purposes.....but it is every good samaritans right to carry a gun....but not on a gun rack like they do down in Stanktown Laughing Laughing

You bet I believe in gun control:

1) Exhale

2) Hold it

3) Squeeze, don't jerk

I personally don't feel that I need a gun but I sure as hell don't want somebody telling me I can't have one. I agree that it is appropriate to limit legal access to certain people who have proven that they are a danger to society. We revoke drivers licenses for people with DUI's or have otherwise proven themselves to be dangerous so why not the same with guns.

I'd have to have you define Gun Control.

I wouldn't be against having guns registeredm, or a reasonable waiting period at purchase - say like 5 days.

I'm not even against felons having guns in all cases. For example, a friend I work with spent 8 years in the house for trafficking Coke in the early 80s. He's a well adjusted family man now. Unfortunately, he can't go deer hunting with us because he's not allowed to have a rifle.

Then again, I was there at 2:00 a.m. when a cop in our group shot the lock off a swimming pool gate so he could go for a morning swim. ( four foot high fence he could've jumped over )

Now, who shouldn't have a gun?

Just something to think about.

I live in New Hampshire, need I say more....."live free or die"

I have no need for a gun and only have the ones I have cuz my mom gave them to me years ago. I agree certain people should not be allowed to have a gun, I also think if everyone carried a gun we would have less crime so I'm on both ends of the spectrum on this one. note: lees crime does not equal less deaths.

gun control- use both hands! naw- not all fellons are bad people. some of them just make bad decisions. and after 7 years they have either learned to be good or they are locked up for life. these people still deserve the right to defend themselves and their families. violent fellonies are a different subject.

I agree there should be a waiting period. I also belive there is no place for sully automatic wepons. When it comes to felons... I would support a policy that would make there be a 30 day wait for them. During that 30 days there has to be a background check to see what they were convicted of. A case by case basis should be looked into. I know this is far to in-depth for the US to go thorugh with, but it's a thought.

A well-regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed.

I don't mind the cooling off or waiting periods. Just don't mess with the Bill of Rights. The reason they added these rights was due to the fact they considered them "natural right" and that the government should not limit natural rights.

Personally, I believe that everyone who feels comfortable owning a gun should have one (with the exception of violent felons). Of course, people should also take a training course and learn how to fire a gun safely as well as care for it. I hold a concealed handgun permit (even though I never actually carry a gun) and believe that more people should submit applications for permits. Besides, the guns I own are more like Swiss watches than guns (even though they are made in Germany Wink ).

I guess you shouldn't own a gun if your face is permanently stuck like this --> Mad .

DCovington, concealed weapons permits are next to impossible to get in California. One of the biggest anti-hand gun Politicians, Diane Fienstien has a concealed weapons permit and has been known to carry a hand gun.

Norcal, that is why California has a lot of work to do! Mrs. Fienstein should also check her hypocracy Sad . Why would a government body discourage law-abiding citizens from carrying weapons and becoming victims to criminals who already have unlicensed weapons? It makes no sense to me. I only hope that the citizens of California will wake up and vote people like Mrs. Fienstein out of office. Good luck with that!

Gun control, like many other things, starts at home.

There is no excuse for a child or a weapon challenged to get hold of a loaded gun.

My 'guns' are in a nice display case with a locked door. There's a seperate cabinet, but I do not keep the ammuntion there.

I keep the ammunition in a seperately pad locked box. The ONLY key is on my keychain.

And AFAIC, there's little different between semi and full auto weapons. With a file and the correct knowledge ( manual ) one can make most semis in to full autos fairly easily.

what is the point of owning a gun? protection? then what good does it do you if it is so safe guarded that it takes you 5 minutes to access, load, and fire it. with a setup like that you couldn't even stop the nutty professors fat, slow ass if he decided to come after you. i always knew exactly where my dads gun was at all times when growing up. i also knew to respect it and never to touch it. i think gun safety starts with gun education.

If you have a gun in the house for protection, statistics show that you are more than five times as likely to have that gun used on you.

Don't ask where I read that. I don't remember.

That's quite true. The cowboys that think it's cool to have a loaded gun for 'protection' are more danger to themselves.

OTOH, there's alway Darwinism.

ON another rant Otis?

Just keep in mind guys that there are lies, damn lies, and statistics. Of course media points us toward the horror stories of guns and gun ownership, but they NEVER inform us of all the people whose lives are saved every day by guns. I'm not advocating one way or another, just something we should keep in mind.

Carry on.
