I AM A BEGINNER AT WAKEBOARDING, AND JUST RECENTLY I WAS ABLE TO COME ON AND OFF THE WAKE WITHOUT FACEPLANTING INTO THE WATER.
NOW I WANT TO LEARN HOW TO JUMP, BUT I DONT KNOW HOW TO DO IT.
PEOPLE TELL ME TO LEAN BACK AND PUSH UP MYSELF.
AND OTHER PEOPLE TELL ME TO LEAN FORWARD AND HAVE MY FRONT FOOT HIT THE WAKE.
I DONT KNOW WHICH ONE IS CORRECT.
CAN U PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHICH ONE IS THE RIGHT WAY AND IF BOTH ARE INCORRECT CAN U PLEASE LET ME KNOW HOW TO DO IT.
THANKS

Take off the caps and learn how to progressive edge. It's basically where you're at your fastest when you hit the crest of the wake and you never flatten out your board (you need to be decent at edging).

It makes a little bit of a difference, but not much for beginners. I'm a beginner too, and don't have a tower.

people are always asking if they need a tower for jumping the wake. for everyone who is asking this same question, no u dont need it. funchick21, go outside the wake and edge a tiny bit back into the wake, and ollie. this is not how u will do it for tricks but it will help u feel comfortable jumping. then as u progress and feel comfortable in the air, use the progressive edge and stand tall at the wake. take it toeside and heelside, then switch

For a real good wake jump I think it is more important to focus on a continuous smooth edge to the very top of the wake. this is a progressive edge and loads the line so that you get popped nice and high
think of your mellowest softest turn as 1 and as the edge increases so does the number so that 10 is your strongest most agressive edge where like as Rocket says "imagine you are trying to show the graphics on the bottom of your board to the people in the boat"
what you do is carve out of the wake and just hang there intill tension is regained in the rope. Now you SLOWLY count your edges from 1 to 10. the key is to slowly count to 10 you don't want to rush to 10 you want to wait until the rope regains tension keep it low against your hips and then SLOWLY count to 10. you want to reach 10 as you hit the start of the wakes ramp and hold it until you reach the very top of the lip.
sart small dont go for a full wake jump flat out mabey just over to the middle so dont go out as far and cont go all the way up to 10.
when landing remember to keep you knees bent and mellow and the handle locked in at your hip and your weight over the middle of the board or just towards the edge most furtherset away from the boat.
hopefully this helps
