Speaking of parents, I ALMOST had my dad (who turned 62 this year) to the point that he wanted to try wakeboarding. He really wanted to, but has had a very severe knee problem in the past that had to be surgically corrected, and was afraid of wiping out and reinjuring that knee.
My neighbor across the street on the other hand, is a very good waterskier. He's in his 50s, and broke his neck in Hawaii body surfing a couple years ago. The doctor said he'd never seen a break so bad without the patient either being paralyzed or dead. At the end of the day he had C4-C6 fused (whatever that means, I'm not a doctor). Spent two weeks in the hospital, what a nice vacation 4 months out of work. He's slowly been getting his strength back, and has been out skiing with us a few times. You'd never guess it, but this guy puts all us young guys to shame.
Old is a state of mind. As long as the body semi-cooperates, I'm convinced you can keep enjoying wakeboarding. |

| Fast351, You've got it right -- "Old is a state of mind." Your body will tell you when to back off, no matter what your age is. Our greatest limitations are in our head. |

Make sure you progressive edge, so you're at your fastest when you hit the crest of the wake and you don't flatten out your board. _________________ It won't be easy, but when I get there it will be one of the most satisfying journeys of my life. |

| And to think my wife thinks I'm crazy for wakeboarding at 34. Nice too see I'm not the only one doing it. I have 3 kids. My 2 boys skateboard which I used to do when I was younger, but I can no longer take the falls. I've got the boys wakeboarding now and it's great. I push the kids and they push me it's a lot of fun. Too bad the daughter and wife have no interest in the sport. |

Try the 3DS by Hyperlite. It was created to take you out into the flats so if your casing the wake and only need a few inches to clear give it a try. Alot of dealers will let you demo boards.
PSS - HHI DAVE, your board looks too small for you what size is it?
31 is a great year. Finally landing w2w's consistently, enough $$ to fund my ADHD for wakeboarding. Kids are now old enough to get into the sport as well.

i didnt read all of the posts because im lazy, but i definately agree with whoever says speed the boat up, it makes you cut in faster and travel over the wake longer and faster. 24-25 is a good speed if you are having trouble, but you should play around with it for a while. i like 22.5-23, personally, but im 13, and i can tell you now i will be wakeboarding till they force me into a wheelchair, and then i will attach two boards to the bottom and wakeboard. lots of respect to the older riders. my dad has 3 kids and is 43 and still entertains us with attempted flips. bu tour last trip he hurt his knee and it has been bothering him for about 2 months now.
