My 5 yr old son and 7 yr old daughter are to the point that the old worthless ironing board (a 9 yr old Thruster) they are using now is too big and goofy for them to do much with and it doesn't turn worth a chit, so they simply fall over half the time. I want to get them a newer tech board to progress on. Something they can actually turn and maneuver.

I've found tons of sweet little HL's and LF's in the 129-131 range with little boots (they're so cute!) but $250 for something they'll outgrow soon? Then I've also seen the cheapo "Big 5" no name cheapos for $50 as well.

question is, is a brand board worth the extra chinga for the little ones? If it does not make any real difference, why not go with a cheapo?

No right or wrong answeres here, but IMO, it really depends on how much you go and if the kids are into it. If wakeboarding for them is 1 or 2xs per month and they are out there for 5 minute sets, it probably isn't going to matter what they are strapped to. If you are out there all the time, you will hold them back with oversized crappy boards. Besdies if you have 2 kids that can share a deck would justify the cash. Also a good board makes a great gift.

I bought my kids good gear because we go pretty often and think it is worth it - they aren't riding the latest pro models, but good boards.

Oh the 129-131 size sounds big for 5 and 7 year olds. Unless your kids are off the growth charts, a 119 - 125 board might be easier for them to control. For example, my 11 y.o. is rocking a 124cm CWB and think my 14 yo is riding a 129 or a 131 CWB.

Yeah, once or twice a month is optimistic even in the summer for us. I think I'll try and find the smallest decent board I can find and I can even use the bindings on the old board for now. They seem to work fine.

Loppy, if you have the board I can get you decent kid size binders for less than $50.

If I had a board that small around I'd get you that cheap too. Neutral
