| I just started wakeboarding this weekend and I love it, but I am still having trouble figuring out how to clear the wake and control which way I am going. Like if I want to go right, which was should I lean my weight or what should I do, and how do I clear the wake cause when I tried I crashed. Tips would be appreciated. Thanks. |

first off, do u ride goofy or regular?
Goofy=right foot forward
Regular=left foot forward
as for clearing the wake shorten your rope up to the shortest setting(helps for first clearing the wake) and then cut out as far as u can, then wait til the rope tightens and slowly strt edging towards the wake and keep building speed as you get closer(stay bent/crouched) once you reach the wake you should be at maximum speed(progressive cut) and then at the top of the wake spring up from the wake and then hopefully u land it lol |

To turn simply lean gently in the direction you want to go and keep the handle close to your leading hip.
as for clearing the wake
Hyperlite58 is right about the rope but dont focus completely on speed.
I think it is more important to focus on a continuous smooth edge to the very top of the wake.
My mate is a nut job and we got him last month for the first time on a wakeboard. On his first ride he would cut right out and then abruptly turn and charge at the wake like a slalom skier going for a bouy. He took his jumps into the flats but only cleared the water by half a meter or less.
This is the advivce i was told a what i gave him.
think of your mellowest softest turn as 1 and as the edge increases so does the number so that 10 is your strongest most agressive edge where like as Rocket says "imagine you are trying to show the graphics on the bottom of your board to the people in the boat"
what you do is carve out of the wake and just hang there intill tension is regained in the rope. Now you SLOWLY count your edges from 1 to 10. the key is to slowly count to 10 you don't want to rush to 10 you want to wait until the rope regains tension keep it low against your hips and then SLOWLY count to 10. you want to reach 10 as you hit the start of the wakes ramp and hold it until you reach the very top of the lip.
sart small dont go for a full wake jump flat out mabey just over to the middle so dont go out as far and cont go all the way up to 10.
when landing remember to keep you knees bent and mellow and the handle locked in at your hip and your weight over the middle of the board or just towards the edge most furtherset away from the boat.
hopefully this helps _________________ I may be the most unco guy in the world but mabey that is because I always go big so I know I have the most fun. |
