|
|
I have a '99 Tige 2200i. right now the stereo is run directly off of the battery. but, it's annoying because the stereo cuts out whenever I start the boat, etc. So, I was considering putting in a second battery with an isolator, the stereo would run of of the second battery, and I would have a backup battery for starting the boat if the primary battery croaked on me...
Any problems with doing that? Hints?

No problems, I would suggest using the same type of battery for both the stereo and main battery, and if the second battery is not in a highly ventilated area, make sure to use a sealed battery such as Optima.
While geared towards cars, the following website contains all of the information you need to implement this on your boat.

I woudl add another battery but soudns liek yoru stereo is somhow wired thru your ignition, for a splti second it loses power then it returns. This is caused by you turnign your key. I would add a 2nd batttery , regardless.
This will not solve your stereo cuttign off when you turn the ignition. _________________ LED Concepts |

i have a 2nd battery that powers my amp and gets charged from an isolator. The deck is wired to the ignition which is main battery. When i start the boat it cuts out momentarily.
You would have to run power from the deck to the 2nd battery to stop the cut out.

| the stereo is normally wired through the ignition so when its on u dont run the battery all the way down by forgetiing about turning the unit off.recommend a 2nd batter just because it really gives the powers to the amp and if it happens that ur battery is run all the way down the backup one will allow you to switch the perko switch inorder to use the second battery to start and then switch it back and charge the other battery back up. |
