|
|
Hey all,
My dad just mentioned to me that he wouldn't mind spending 15-20K on a boat, so I thought I should start looking to see what's out there. I don't know much about wakeboard boats, so I'll post my specs, and just let me know what makes/models I should be looking out for:
1. Less then ~20K (CAD)
2. Fit ~10 people (I've got a big family)
3. Throw a nice wake. I'm not looking for an awesome wake, just nice. I'm used to an old Doral that doesn't really have a wake, so anything is an improvement.
4. A tower isn't neccessary at my point in wakeboarding, so tower/no tower - doesn't really matter.
5. I want an imboard.
7. Has to be a bow-rider.
8. perferably newer then 1998.
9. Lots of storage.
I've been looking on ebay, just to get a feel for prices, but is there any other place I should be looking? Would you buy private, or get a used boat from a dealership? Let it be known that we would do all of our own maintence (oil changes, winterizing, etc.)
For brands, I've noticed that Moombas seem to be the lowest price, but still look like nice, good boats. Is that the case, or are you paying less for a significantly worse product? In wakeboard boats, do you pay for the name?
Thanks! _________________ Impossible is not a a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.

| Check the budget wakeboat chart. You may be slim on selection if you want to stay under 20K and get 1998 onward open bow. You may want to look into Supra's, or I would also recommend a mid-90's Malibu. Just an FYI though... if you're looking for a used inboard in that price range around here, it's slim pickings from all the research I've done. |

| arof, it's a sticky at the top of the Boat Discussion Forum. If you have more specific questions feel free to pm me too... I've been researching the same types of boats you're looking at here. If you've checked boattrader, you've probably noticed there isn't much. |

dirtysparks, >900 of those posts you'll find in the non-wake section, and I never really thought I'd get the chance to have an actual wakeboard boat so didn't put the thought into it.
WakeboardReport - sorry for the wrong forum. What can you tell me about older (1998-2003) Moombas? What ones are best for wakeboarding? Also, do you have an RSS Feed for your blog? what's the URL? _________________ Impossible is not a a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. arof, no worries about the wrong forum - happens all the time and takes 2 seconds to fix. I don't know anything about Moombas and to be honest I purposely left out branded wake boats for that chart. And I have never heard anyone talk about Moombas in "reverent terms". Not that they aren't good - but they are not legendary and probably never will be. The ones on the chart are, by contrast, all legends.
And - I just use Firefox and subscribe using Live Bookmarks.
Alternatively, the rss feeds can be processed here:

Amen. I could not/would not own my boat if it weren't for the forum here and at PlanetNautique... my other, other, OTHER, favorite Web site. It would be just too difficult - if I couldn't hear about others' ideas and projects - and advice on problems. |
