| Do I wait till spring to buy or buy now in the fall? I've heard you can find great deals in the fall and I've been looking. The thing is if I buy now basically I buy it and put it in storage for 7-8 months! I was told it's much harder to find a boat in the spring cause everyones looking. I'm looking at buying used, not new. |

I have bought several boats and the best deals I have found have always been in the fall. It does suck to store one right after you buy it but you will most likely get a better deal. The biggest suggestion I can give anyone who is looking to buy a boat, whenever they are looking, is to do your research! Go to boattraderonline, Kelly Blue Book.com, and any other boat site you can find. Find out what the boat you are looking at is really worth and go from there. Hope this helps. |

You can find better deals in the fall but better selection in the spring. You have to be quicker in the spring though because there are a lot more people looking. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

| I bought a used boat this past February and got a good deal on it. It seemed to be a fairly stagnant time for boat sales. People were coming off holiday spending, and preparing for tax season, and wondering why they have a boat thats not being used sitting in the driveway taking up space, not to mention its cold and dreary. I would say you can get the best deals in January or February, but the selection is probably the worst at that time. Fall has good deals and decent selection, Spring, high selection, high price. |

BINGO.
Some of this depends on how much, if anything, you would pay for storage. If what you are paying for storage is more than what you would save buying Fall/Winter and not Spring, that may factor in. I am surprised when I hear what some people pay for storage.
If storing at home, buying in the Fall gives you all Winter to work on things you want to do to your boat....... |

| What was said above make sense. I've bought two used boats and time of year does effect selection and price. However, what I would say is once you have made a decision to start looking and buy a boat, when you find the boat you want in the general price range you want, go ahead and get it. If you find the right boat this Fall, buy it then. If you wait till Spring, not only might you pay more, but you may have trouble finding exactly what you want. Good luck. |

One thing to keep in mind is that used boats especially inboards that are in good shape are going to sell for quite a bit above "book value". It all comes down to supply and demand. _________________ "What counts is not necessarily the size of the the dog in the fight. Its the size of the fight in the dog." - Gen. George S. Patton |
