We've had the luxory of a dad who has bought the boats and the kids mooched off of him for the last 10 years. we've been through 5 boats 1.starcraft i/o 2.campion 3.moomba outback with tower 4.toyota epic d/d 5.malibu wakesetter (v-drive and current boat) I've got 3 kids now, and time at the lake is pretty sparse when you have 12-14 peeps (other family members and friends)in the boat for pulls. so i've talked my wife into looking into a boat. I want something different, there are a dozen new malibu's on the lake, a couple of master craft, toyota's, air natuque blah blah. I've been totally excited and looking at brand new boats, but gag each time i look at 50-80 thousand dollar price tag of a boat.50 g's is prob out of our pricing, but i work in sales and can generate extra sales to pay for the monthly payment, but 10-15 years of payments, i'm gagging again.lol I'm looking very hard at the mb sports b52 v23, supra launch, and possibly the moomba xlv. i want a great surfing wake and something the kids can learn and improve on. what do you guys think. I've done tonnes of searchs, and thats how i came to look at the supras, they look to be a excellent boat with a very impressive wake. sorry for the book. any input would be great. and i've already tried the fishing and bass boats and the wake is a tad bit on the humoungus side for me.

The MB is not going to fall into the "under 50k catagory." I would look used, find something that has already taken it's 3 year 15k hit in depreciation. You could probably get any boat you want used.

Moomba would be your most inexpensive bet, yet when loading it up with options it gets pretty damn close, are you not looking at year olds?

I think either a new supra or moomba, or a year or 2 old mb sport is what i'll be looking at. thanx for the info so far.

Well you mentioned some fine boats, but like you, I could not justify spending 50k for boat that I probably use about 60 hours a year. We have a place on a lake so we don't really spend all day out on the boat. We tried to wakeboard behind a jet boat last year, but the kids wanted a bigger wake, so I started to look around. I ended up with a Gekko GTO-22. Yes it is a water ski boat, but with a tower and a sac it it puts out a decent wake. Pretty well equipped it came in well under $35k. Granted it is not as fancy as a $50k boat, but with two teen agers gettting ready to go to college, it certainly does what we want.

Look at an older malibu 25 sunscape. You can probably get one around the $40 and they are super huge and have an insane wakeboard wake. The did not sell very well, so you can leverage the price. It is an excellent boat and it has a liner too!-not like the stapled carpet in the other Malibu's.
