This winter I am estimating that I will spend roughly 4500$ into my boat for a ballast system, tower, board racks, tower speakers, custom fat sacs, custom upholstery/cushions, bow speakers, amp, woofer, etc........ Now, I have found two types of tower speakers that I like. Both are about the same price, however, I think that the 6x9 is badass, and looks amazing. However, I do not want to sacrifice looks for quality, loudness, etc.... So, which would you guys reccomend? Again, price is not an issue here.

If I go with the monsters, would you guys reccomend the polks or the kickers?
I am still far away from deciding which amps to get, what kind of subs I want, etc.... The bass is decent in my boat already, I just want to get some legitimate subwoofers in there. Problem is, not much space in my boat to put a woofer with a box (if I did get woofers, I was thinking about 2 10" in the side mesh compartments with custom boxes to match the storage (boat is a 1999 Malibu Response LX)). Also, does anyone know off the top of their head if the illusion X/Illusion/Blade will fit on a response LX?
Thanks,
Dan |

Dan,
From discussions I've read, NVS is the way to go...I think there's alot to be said for the compression driver...way outa my price range...I've not heard 'em personally but apparently they REALLY can be heard while riding... _________________ just broad reachin' thru life... |

| Yeah, 1649$ is a bit too much, I heard great stuff about their products, but I don't plan on spending as much as I would on a tower (or nearly as much) as I would on the speakers. I am really interested in the 4 speaker fiberglass enclosures or the 6 speakers, however, if I am spending 900-1000$ ish on tower speakers, I do not want a box that will crack or break, or sound. |

if you're spending around $900, I'd recommend the Wet Sounds Pro80 speakers. Give them 200 watts a piece and they are ridiculous. _________________ www.led-concepts.com |

NVS are incredible. You get what you pay for, and from what you are looking to do, go with NVS hands down. _________________ Neuston Boards

| Has anyone ever heard of liquidtrends.net ? I like the look of their stuff and although they don't have the custom made speakers w/the horns that everyone is raving about, they do have a great selection of speakers that they put in their fiberglass boxes. |

| hco, We have liquid trends tower speakers and with the setup for 10 its like having a concert in the boat and we crank it up so you can hear clearly from behind the boat. Definatley worth looking into and they have great service. Also they installed 2 Preformance Teknique Amps to power the boat speakers in the boat and on the tower. Here's Ours- |

Be aware that not all speakers fit in the liquid trends boxes, unless they changed thier designs that is. I have the 6x9 box and a lot of the higher end speakers have a grill larger than what will fit on the face of the box. I went with the new Audiobahn marines with the horn tweeters. I actually built a face for my box and put 6 1/2's in it.
Its a great box and built solid but I wish I could have got my 6X9's it. _________________

| i dunno why it wouldnt fit if i was to change out the speakers but the system is already loud as is and unless i really want more i dont feel like i need to spend any more on tower speakers unless we got the the other 4 on top where the stock malibu system mounts. |

Project has started, tower, board racks, bimini, all that on the way. Soon after I sell 2 pylons, a bimini, 2 fat sacs, and a pump, then I start the real stuff. Once that is sold this is what is going in next:
-custom rear seat/fat sac
-custom sac for underneath climb over for the bow
-2 500 watt amps
-2 2000 gph bilge pumps and plumbing.
Just got in a car wreck so the sound system is on hold currently. I guess when I roll into some cash around christmas/birthday then I will get a marine head unit w/ remote, two bow speakers, and a woofer. The tower speakers have to wait until next summer. 3200$ of damage to my car. |
