This is probably the coolest way to kill time. Essentially it is a bidding game that you do via text messaging. You find out what the auctions are, then you text message a bid in cents, so 2356 is $23.56. The goal is to have the lowest unique bid, it's a free text message unless you are bidding on one of the larger items (like a car) then it's 99 cents per bid.. The Lowest unique bid wins the item. If you don't bid a unique number it will text you back and tell you to try again. They have everything from $500 cash every friday, to a Mustang GT Convertible that you can bid on.

Check it out, it's really freakin cool. And definitely a good idea. I read about it in this months Forbes.

I wish I could say I won something (well you actually buy it, but for the low bid you put in) but I just got addicted today...

Lop Unlike Meowsy, I am in no way affiliated, and I don't get anything from them for posting or getting people to sign up. I just thought it was a really cool idea.

midwesty, A unique bid is one where you are the only person who has bid that number. So if you bid a number and someone else has already bid it, the service will tell you that it is not unique and give you another chance to bid. So you want the lowest number that no one else has bid. If you put in the lowest unique bid, you get to 'buy' the item for that price. So you could get the Plasma for like $10.00.

So why does the person who bids $.01 first win every time. I guess I don't understand why it tells you your bid is not unique and lets you rebid, but allows your unofficial bid to cancel a previously unique bid, if thats actually how it works.

UTexas_LBJ, do you mean why doesn't the first person to bid 1 cent win each time? If that's what you meant then it's because they have ending times for the auctions. So as soon as someone else bids the .01 you're initial bid isn't unique anymore... And all bids are considered official bids.

To be honest I'm not exactly sure how it works, and how they are making money off of this. But they have a ginormous list of sponsors listed at the bottom. Try it, you could win...

Lop, no worries, my initial post did sound like an advertisment... Thats why I put that I read about it in Forbes...

Bowen, you said it yourself, sponsors. The sponsors get their advertising, the site gets it's stuff, win/win situation for them. Wink
