Why is it that I keep hearing the "since having the kids, we don't go out on the boat as much" bs excuse?

BOATS ARE FOR KIDS

Any of you have any doubts, look at the depth of my two year olds nap, the smile on my daughters face (the girl can drive!) and my nine year old. The last year with the boat has brought us closer, more into spending TIME together, and all around family joy.

Please send questioning spouses my way, I will set them straight.

Show your boating kids! support my theory.

SWASS????

boobybunny, for sure. no reason to not bring your kids out in the boat. when i was a baby my parents would just put me on the floor of the boat and let me sleep. when i was 2 or 3, cant remember, my dad would take me on a kneeboard with him( no stuff talking, this was before he knew about wakeboarding)

Couldn't agree with you more bewbie bunners... I grew up on boats. My wife has been living the lifestyle since early high school. It's in our blood, and it sure as heeel will be in our kids.

We know about 12 close friends with boats, I think maybe ONE wont have kids in them on any given weekend. Wink

Reminder: Just dont let them "teak surf" without a life jacket. Rolling Eyes

No good pics here at work, but this is a typical weekend in my boat. Cant see em all, but there are no less than 4 kids in my boat, either hang'n out or sleeping on the floor.

My daughter just turned a year... she's been on the boat since she was about 5-6 months old... loves it.

if it's calm, she passes out.. if it's bumpy - she thinks it's hilarious.

she'll be on a wakeboard by 3.

skeets44, That is VERY cute

Loppy, In the year we have had the boat we have only gone out once without the kids, and it was a fluke.

My nine year old, the first picture will duct tape a skate board to his feet and jump on the tramp. AND he is a water snob, seconds after that shot was taken, he cut and told it was WAYY to choppy.

My daughter can hold her speed better than I can, but she tends to drive twords birds. (an adult stands behind her, ready to take over) My though is, is she does not want to ride, then she damn well better be able to drive. No solo driving until she is older of course.

K-dub,
That would be two toe heads, one RED head. The girl has red hair in the winter and blonde in the summer. Three kids and I am D-O-N-E- done.

Loppy, seriously, she does. I am so scared to be her mom when she is a teenager. Also I think the whole mentality is a Nor Cal thing. I am from Chico and Georgetown, Sac by birth. We really want to move back down to Paradise, found a house on the lake, close enough to family to be able to say hi, far enough away that they have to call first. My first sking was on Barryessa (sp?) on a set of doubles that are STILL taller than I am. As messed up as my family is, the best of times was/is on the boat. Something I wanted to continue not only for my own children but my cousins as well.

boobybunny, was the red head a blondie when a baby?

I'm thinking mine will start to go red or strawberry....lots of that on both sides of the family.

Nope, she came out pink and red. It is really pretty, every shade of red from dark alburn, to white blonde.

The youngest has darker hair in all the winter photos, and his dad's hair is nearly black. I have dark brown/red hair.

The oldest, well this is the first year he has not been white blonde in the summer. I think he will end up a baby poo blonde.

BigGator My 22 month has been on the wakesurfer with me... laying down, between my arms. It was really hard to hold on, but I was giving a lesson to my daughter and asked her if she wanted to try. Baby Jack climbs out on the teak asking "try? try?" how do you refuse that?

Hey Bunny, sounds like you've romped around our neck of the woods back in the day. All those same hangouts are still here. I was just on Berry a few weeks ago. Kdub is there all the time I think. I'm up on the Rubicon all the time too, so Georgetown is a home away from home too.

If you guys ever get down this way, bring the tub and lets get the kids wet. Wink

Loppy,
Do you know Duane Lampson? The next time you are up in the red dirt, will you rub your toes in it? I LOVE the way Georgetown smells this time of year. All that hot pine, yum.

Have you ever done the Jamboree? I assume that if you were on the Rubicon,it was with a rock crawler of some sort. That is one sport I can no longer justify but DAMN it was fun.

My parents left Ca when is was "going to hell in a handbasket" back in the early 70's but my grandparents had me down there every summer. I was 12 the last year bumpa took me on the jamboree.

Man... I miss NorCal. Do you know anyone at SBC? My husband has been trying to get on with them for a year now.

I agree, the boat is for the kids, too. Demands on time makes it hard sometimes, though. It's not that we don't want to go out as much as we used to - it's just that finding the time to do so can be a challenge.
