crhockey66, have them try to turn the board flat (parallel with the water surface) earlier when they are trying to get up. Otherwise it takes a lot of strength to get up. Which isn't that hard for most of us guys but I could see it being a problem for girls.

Keep your knees bent inwards (so your knees are basically touching)..Keep your arms straight out infront of you..Get your driver to tow you a little bit and make sure your boards is around 5-6" out of the water. Its not like waterskiing where the driver hits it full throttle to get you out..you're driver should slowly put the throttle forwards up to speed, as this happens let your knees come to your chest on their own (you shouldn't be pushing with your legs at all). When this happens you should fell like your almost "sitting" on the board. It will plane on the water and turn on its own and from their you stand up and your off!!!
I too own a 15' 90hp. and it has no problems getting me up, im 190lbs and it will pull me up on a slalom ski..
Just make sure your driver eases the throttle slowly to about half...otherwise if he hits it full, thats a lot of water for your board to push out of the way and it will usually end up going under!!!
Hope that helps..

I have had many people have this problem and I recently found that it helps to tell them to try to hold the top of the board even with the water, so that the board is slightly under, and drag them for a second or to a little bit faster then just in gear, and then give the boat about half throttle and slowly pick up to full throtle. I used to just give it full throtle right away but people learning have trouble with that sometimes. Holding the board underwater is what really helps those people.

Best thing I've found to tell them, and I tell them every time.

"Knees all the way into your chest, arms all the way out. Don't try to pull yourself up!"

Wakebrad, same thing I tell people, works wonders.

Some of my friends were leaning back with their legs too straight, like they were expecting the boat to yank them up standing straight up. Nope. They gotta compress as the boat pulls them so it pulls them up, dont fight the water and try to pull yourself up.

Relax in the water with your arms straight and knees bent up to your chest. The board will naturally float up in front of you.
Take off slowly, and when the rider feels pressure on the bottom of the board, pull their heels down to their butt.
That's it...
From the boat, take off slow & steady, and make sure they aren't pulling in with their arms, or trying to stand up with their legs. Tell them to stay in this low crouched position until they are comming up on top of the water.

The heels to the butt thing forces them to do 3 things without thinking about any of them:
1) keeps the knees bent (you cant have straight legs if you are trying to kick yourself in the butt)
2) angles the board under them such that the water pushing on it will cause the board to rise to the surface (instead of plowing against it)
3) rolls their hips up and over the board.

I always knew how I got up, but had a hard time explaining it to other people. Once I figured out these tricks, we havent had a single person miss. (probably up to about 40 - 50 noobs by now over the last 5 years)
