My buddy has one, uses it alot. He bought the phone and buys his cards at Walmart. He seems to love it. But I have Verizon and free "in" calling to several people I and my kids talk to constantly, so I wouldn't benifit from a prepaid. The idea of no contracts is attractive though.

So you just buy a phone, go to wal mart or something and buy a card? Is there like a code on the card you enter into the phone?

Go to Walmart, and they'll hook you up.

I have pre-paid service with Alltel. I used to have a contract with them, so I have a phone that works on their system. I don't use a cel phone enough to be paying for regular service, but with pre-paid, I only pay for minutes I use. (They also have pay-per-day and -per-month as well, see www.alltelu.com.) I can buy more minutes by logging into a website or calling them and using a credit card, or going to an Alltel store. I think there's also a way to do it with the phone, but I haven't checked that out. Basically, I just put money in and they deduct from it as I use minutes.

I don't know anything about a card system or Wal-mart phones.

buy phone and stinky 100 dolalr activation. then activate it and you can by cards at like walmart even like 7-11 has trac phone ones. then you buy them the card is activated (so they cant be stolen from the store) you call in enter code through touch tone method and bam you have minutes. what happens if you run out of minutes while on the phone? it drops the call no overage.
