PostPosted: May 06, 2003 3:12 pm    Post subject: My Day from HELL Reply with quote

OK i wake up this morning to the tornado scirens (sp?) going off witch is never a good thing to wake up to. I turn on the TV to find out that the weather is HORRABLE outside and about 10 min later it starts pouring. By the time i got ready to leave for work the back yard is under about a foot of water! On My way to work i get stuck in a stand still on the parkway and wait there for about 30 min or so. As i finally get to the top of one of the over passes i see what the hold up is. Aldridge Creek (that runs through the middle of town) has flooded its banks and the parkway looked more like a lake than a road. The cops were having cars jump a curb to turn around and at that point i about craped my pants (for thoes of you that dont know, I drive a lowered car). I stop and talk to the cop directing traffic and he says that he thinks i can make it and if not he'd have me pull over with the other ricerockets and wait for the water to go down. Evil or Very Mad i decided to give jumping the curb a shot and to my suprise i made it just fine. 20 min later i make it to the mall, get out of my car to hear air leaking from somewhere. Somewhere between my house and the mall i managed to get a screw in my brand new tire!!!! Evil or Very Mad I go into work pissed as hell to hear what sounds like rain in my store. The roof of the mall flooded and leaked into the store above mine flooded it and then the water made a quite impressive waterfall down one of the walls in my store. The stock room roof was totaly fallen in and most of the stuff back there was soaked along with bits of the roof everywhere. I spent most of the day working on cleaning up the mess and damageing out about a third of my stores stock! Evil or Very Mad

Sorry this was so long i just really needed to vent! i feel a little better now. Rolling Eyes I think i'll feel even better after a beer or two or six. Wink

I'd rather live through an earthquake than Tornadoes. All the earthquakes I've been through have always been during nice weather
So I relocate myself from SoCA to Orlando....land of Thunderstorms, Tornadoes and Hurricanes aftermaths

DP, honestly, the last serious earthquake I've ever been in was the one in '89 that destroyed the Bay Area. I've felt real little ones in the years since, but they were so small I didn't even try to find cover.

Jester~ Where were you for the one that happened in '93 Northridge?
I remember waking up and saying...." oh it's just an earthquake". Only to find out a few hours later how devastating it actually turned out to be.

I've put up with tornadoes all my life... not that big of a deal to me unless it destroys houses or kills people. I've seen so many tornadoes that are just EVIL looking, but never hit any houses or anything... those are the ones that you look at and go... man, that's awesome!

Earthquakes can happen anywhere, and since Cali only has the occasional earthquake to worry about, it's the place to be. Sucks for you Dungeonprincess, but just think, since today was a really bad day for you, tomorrow will be much better.

Well maybe your district manager will be caught in an unexpected tornado that will throw his car like a hotweels toy and he just wont be able to find the time to stop by and say hello. You could look at it that way.

Within the last week, we have had an earthquake, tornados and floods. I think the end is near. If Van Halen gets back together, then I will need to go to church or something...

Hey DP I must have been right behind you on the parkway, actually I was one of the last ten cars that was on the parkway before they closed it. I parked on the side there was no way i was jumping that damn curb. I only had to sit there for about 20 mins. before they turned us around and went out the other way, which wasn't bad since I had been on the parkway for 2 hours by then. To let you paople know that was 2 hrs to go about 3 miles. But since North and South Huntsville were cut off from each other I didn't have to go to work.
