Hi!

I have a Hydrolift t-17 that is a 17 feet sportsboat, it compares to bassboats in hull design.
This is the boat I have and I don't have enough money to get a wakeboardboat. I use this boat as a sportsboat as well and with a Mercury 90 hp I'm going 53 mph (GPS). =)

I have a about 6' 5" pylon and two 400 lb fatsacs to work with at the moment.
The boat's weight with enigne and gasoline is about 1050 lb.
I have a hydraulic Jack Plate which makes it possible for me to move the enigine in a vertical direction while driving.
At this moment the boat is quite heavy at the stern since the motor, jack plate and gasoline which is all positioned at the transom weighs just as much as the boat.

My question now is where should I place the fat sac's and how should I trim/lift the enigne to get the best possible wake?
Should I add more weight?
Off course I could have more people in the boat but should I add more sac's and such? Usually we are 2 people in the boat and one on the wakeboard while riding.
I have a 65 feet rope by the way...

Thanks!

Mike

There's only so much weight that a boat like that could handle, but definitely put what weight you have up at the front of the boat. The mess with the trim to get a nice shape from the wake.

This boat is an quite extreme off shore racer and I've spoken to the constructor of it and he says there should be no problem with the boat breaking as long as I don't sink it. Very Happy

They go 50 mph in 10 feet waves with up to 400 lb of weight in the front to compensate for the poor balance with a heavy motor on such a small boat when they race these boats.
He basically said that it's a 5 persons boat that should handle 5 persons a large V6 enigne (which some people actually use) 20 gallons of fuel and luggage. =)

I'll try your advice with putting the weight up front. I've only been riding with it once with fat sacs since I just bought them and then I put one up front and one in the back of the boat. Then I had to have the motor trimmed in quite far and that doesn't seem optimal. It should be better to trim it out so that it pushes water upwards and the boat downwards, right?

Thanks!
Mike
