well, I know its possible to wakeboard behind a bassboat, even with no tower, we did it with a like, 30-40 hp engine too
So the problem probably isnt the setup, but more in the way your trying to get up...
Make sure your not trying to stand up right away when it pulls you, that will cause your board to go under
I'm sure its EASIER with a tower, but deff. not manditory |

there is no reason you shouldnt be able to get up behind a 90 horse engine, just keep practicing _________________ "This suit is really crampin' my hardy boys, and its no mystery" |

Just work on your technique. Drag your but to your ankles and wait for the boat to pull you up and then stand up after you get going a little bit. _________________ 93 four winns

Keep your knees bent inwards (so your knees are basically touching)..Keep your arms straight out infront of you..Get your driver to tow you a little bit and make sure your boards is around 5-6" out of the water. Its not like waterskiing where the driver hits it full throttle to get you out..you're driver should slowly put the throttle forwards up to speed, as this happens let your knees come to your chest on their own (you shouldn't be pushing with your legs at all). When this happens you should fell like your almost "sitting" on the board. It will plane on the water and turn on its own and from their you stand up and your off!!!
I too own a 15' 90hp. and it has no problems getting me up, im 190lbs and it will pull me up on a slalom ski..
Just make sure your driver eases the throttle slowly to about half...otherwise if he hits it full, thats a lot of water for your board to push out of the way and it will usually end up going under!!!
Hope that helps.. |

i've seen a guy get up behind a dingy with a whooping 15hp motor. Just wait for it to start to plane out. What helped me was i held the handle to my back right, and had my arms on either side of my right knee and leaned towards it. now i can just hop up. I learned behind a bass boat, with the ski teather that attaches to each eyelet and has a red thing that rotates in the middle. now i have a small pylon that just keeps the rope above the motor, it helps alot but not with getting up. I also got up behind a pontoon last weekend. I like wakeboarding behind the bass boat it has a stout a$$ wake. _________________ What it do |
