Hi,

New here to wakeboarding. My roommate just got a boat, that came with a board. It's an '04 CWB Nirvana with '04 CWB Comp bindings. First time out, whatever I did, I ripped his rubber boot out of the binding. He doesn't care much, he wants to go out and buy a new board/set of bindings anyways. He offered to sell me this board & bindings for $75, which I think is a pretty fair price no? My question is how long will this last me? I'm 6'1" 185 lbs, he is about 5'9", maybe 140-150 lbs, so having different boards wouldn't be a bad idea anyways.

What happened was that the boot pulled up and ripped right through the screws that clamp the rubber in the binding. Can that be repaired? Can I only order one binding? Or, since I ripped it, does that mean I need a stronger binding?

I was thinking I could buy a better/stronger set of bindings, and then when I outgrow the board, I can sell it and transfer the bindings to a new board...do the CWB bindings only work on CWB boards, or are they for the most part interchangeable?

I got up out of the water pretty quick and I'm doing "OK" on the water, I tend to pick up things fairly quickly, just wondering how long the board will last me...

Thanks for any advice.
- Dave

Here's the board, and you can see the ripped bindings...

The boards will normally outlast the bindings. I still have my original '99 CWB board and it's still in great condition. The bindings wore out long ago. I no longer ride it but keep a cheap one size fits all universal set of bindings on it for a other people to ride.
If you liked the board then you could get a decent set of bindings and ride it untill you get the urge to upgrade to a new board. Yes, bindings and boards interchange between brands.

Good to know about the interchangeability, thanks! I've got to research these "Torq" bindings, see if they're any good. I can get a set of '06 CWB Torq's here in town for $145, talked the guy down a bit, now I gotta see how they are if I should get them. Laughing

The '06 CWB lineup is much improved from what I hear. They introduced lots of new features across the line. The new Torqs should have the new hinge entry.
I use the reviews and discriptions on the www.wakeworld.com page to checkout boards and bindings. You can look at the specs and customer reviews on current and previous year models.

that same thing happened to our bindings when we first got that board
we ripped about three pairs between
that was last year or the year before im not sure
but i can give a good rating for the torq bindings
laces are a little long get in the way but its not all that bad
some hard landings the hinges might jab ya a little but its not bad
but thier are comfortable bindings
super easy entry

Everything I hear about the Torq's has been positive. I read many threads on here via a search, as well as customer reviews. I'm going to go by at lunch today and give them a good look-over and pick them up probably. $145 doesn't seem like a bad price.

Well, I got the Torq bindings, love them! Unfortunately...the board didn't like them too much, as the anchors ripped out of the board on a hard backwards fall...

How long will it last? I guess that answers that question! Two weeks!

Time to look for another board. Shocked Rolling Eyes

Dave88LX, That board probably lasted you as long as that slow @$$ mustang that you drive. Laughing
