Denver or Phoenix?

Which of these two cities would you rather live. and why? Which do you think is more fun? Who lives or has lived in either or both? Let me know what you think. I am considering transfering out to one of the two in the next year or so. I love them both, but have not spent that much time in either to really be sure.

Denver is cool, but the nightlife SUCKS. I don't care what anyone from Denver says, I have been there several times in the last 2 years and it blows big time. Lots of "cute" girls with Vail Tail.

Haven't been to Phoenix, but I do know they are hording most of the hot, blonde tramps from the rest of us. Anyplace that launched Girls Gone Wild has to be fun.

If you are older/married, Denver - can't beat the weather and proximity to the mountains. If you are young, can handle living in an oven and want to cut a lot of a$$, Phoenix. It really is that simple.

If you're young and single, Denver is pretty clique-ish. Even with so many transplants here, folks tend to stay with their own group.

Then again, we only let JT09 go to the north side. Wink

Denver Central and the tech center are where to go for bars.

I was just highly unimpressed with LoDo and that's where I have heard a lot of good things about. I was there on a Thursday night and couldn't find ANYONE out! Didn't have to worry about elbow room anywhere and we probably hit 8 bars.

I'd love to give Denver nightlife another shot - hell I'll give ANY town's nightlife as many shots as it takes! I'll be up there next weekend if you want to show me what it's all about.

ALthough, any Friday after work, you can catch a gang at Wynkoop playing 9 ball.

LODO is not all that folks think. There've been many '6 month' bars. No one lives down here, we just work here. I can point you to a few places ( I'm not dead yet ), but I'd need to know what you favor.

There's young bars that are pretty hot, but they have retro, new age, mechanic, punk, ... ...

Also, are you into a dance scene or sports type bars. Soiled Dove is a pretty hot spot on Friday's as is Chapultapec ( a well known jazz bar ).

Then there's Cool River, an upscale young-ish ( 30s ) place in the Tech Center, JD's Bait shop for darts and pool down there also.

I worked extensively in Denver and Phoenix. Phoenix has more and hotter women!! Besides getting a house in denver is a joke!! you cant get a cracker jack box for less than 200,000 where as in Chandler and Mesa arizona you can get new houses in new communities for a good deal! If you can handle the heat I say go to PHX

i lived in mesa from ages 0-22. i think mesa/phoenix is the greatest place in the world. it's clean, people are great, the mexican food's the best, and you can wakeboard year 'round. you wouldn't regret it. Wink

Considering you love to snowboard.... and you have the Standley Crew or Leggester ( just stay away from his 6 y/o) for wakeboarding. I'd say go where your heart takes you. Life is what you make out of it.
How often can you apply for a transfer?

I can transfer anytime, and anywhere there is an open position. With the current general shortage of trained, experienced pilots in my field, there are open positions frequently at many locations.

BTW, for whoever asked, I am 34 and unmarried. It sounds like Phoenix is the place to be. It's still only a couple hour drive to decent snowboarding, and I think it is the funnest town I have been to. I think in a year or two I will be living there.

denver=snowboarding and pheniox=wakeboarding. i'd go with denver mostly cause i only get to see snow one week a year.

Well I can tell you just from living in Denver all my life, if you love to wakeboard don't move here. Denver has great weather, and the mountains are nice, but the cost of living out here is a joke! I was watching the news last night and they said that the adv cost of a home is 275,000. I have seen what you can get for that, not much. 1200 sq feet and a great view of next home.
The water if few and far between, and when you get out there it's so crowded that you can hardly ever board of good water. In the last 3 years I have only seen butter once, ant it was 7:30 pm and getting dark in October. Hey if you are in it for the snow, more power to you. I have to say though that the snow amounts have been falling off over the years, in fact some ski areas where in some deep financial hurt these past years.. In fact I heard Vail advertising ski passes for next year already. The night life here is not the best. We have many clubs but there are busy for the first month after the open and then they are dead!

I've never been to Denver(except the airport) and have spent alot of time in Tempe/Mesa/Phoenix area.....That place is the sht! Melissa went to ASU from '97-'01 and I visited there about 8 times each of those years.....If you're single, that is the place to be as long as you can sift through the abundance of high maintenance chicks Wink

..nightlife is fantastic, there's always something going on, weather is great, housing is affordable...did I say there were a bunch of hot chicks? Oh yeah, and the talent gets refreshed every year at ASU Laughing

If I were in your position, it'd be a no brainer.....

Personally I'm not a huge partier anymore but Phoenix area definitely has it going on for that stuff. I've never been to Denver but I've been around the U.S. and Phoenix area is about as good as it gets. Craig, I tried to email you before you took off so you could come wakeboarding while here but I don't know if you ever got my email. Anyway if you're visiting let me know. I'll be boarding a ton this summer.

Thanks bro. I really appreciate that. I should be back in the area on a fairly regular basis. On this last trip, I was too busy studying to even think about wakeboarding though. I did get one long weekend between courses while I was there, so I had my room mate fed ex me my snowboard and gear, and I drove up to the White Mountains to ride for three days. That was my only excursion for the 10 weeks I was out there in AZ. The rest was mostly stress. Once I finneshed the training, I drove up to Phoenix for the weekend to party with my bros who live there. I fell in love with the town.

Having lived in Denver my entire life (35 years) I can offer you some good info. You can pretty much ride 5-6 months out of the year. It is possible to find great water, you just have to know where to look. There are a few private lakes that you can join if you are interested in paying the price for great water every day. Snowboarding is only an hour away, and you have many top notch choices. For those who say the nightlife sucks, you are not hanging out in the right places. Lodo is not the spot for the nightlife and best looking chicks. There are a some great nightclubs that sport some very nice eye candy and action. I am 35 and seem to find great dancing and nightlife whenever I want. You could too. Our housing is a bit on the high price side, but with a little looking it is no worse then many other cities around. It all depends on what you want to get out of your life. Do you want good seasonal weather, or hot as hell summers and nice winters? If you decide to move to arizona, that is great. Our traffic is bad enough out here.
