In about a month, I'm joining the wakeboard team at school and we have a fall tourney that we are going to. I was just wondering what I should spend my time learning until then. I can do 360's easily, backrolls decent, and scarecrows pretty good. My heelside 180's aren't that consistent which is why I can't land a 540 even though I get the rotation and handle. I also cannot do a backflip and have never done one on a tramp which is why I haven't done a tantrum. I tried two roll to reverts and came around on one of them but again, my heelside 180s aren't where they need to be.

Basically, I'm just trying to figure out what is going to be easiest to learn but still impressive enough for the tournament.

I would better those hs 1's first. Those kind of landings are key to other tricks (roll to revert, hs 5, hs bs 1, etc). You can take them huge and put nice stylie grabs on them. Good filler/style tricks for comps and tourneys. I like to hold a long lead hand grab to late 180. It looks pretty dank IMO.

That's probably not what you wanted to hear. If you don't want to work on your hs 1's then I would suggest the TS 3 as your next trick, but then after that maybe a ts backroll, ts frontroll, or tantrum. I voted TS 3.

I should of added that I do a few HS 180's everytime I am out. I just don't spend a whole buttload of time trying to perfect them. I know I need to work on those, along with hte backflip rotation because that is what I need to build off of. Maybe I should just do a HS 720 Razz

The main thing I am interested in is what trick I should learn for this tournament. I'll do whatever I need to do in order to land it. For instance, if you think a 540 is quite impressive and won't be that hard to learn considering where I am at, then I'll better my 180's in order to land it.

Haha, taking the 5 to a 7 is a much bigger step up than a 3 to a 5 because of the second handle pass. Try taking those HS 1's a little bigger every set. Then try to put variations on them. For example, different grabs, early grab to late 180, early 180 to late grab, take them a little off-axis. Taking it big will be the biggest help though.

What school do you go to? I ride with the wakeboard club at Virginia Tech.

From what I hear, yes. I know they won nationals back in 2000. I don't know that much about them or even what qualifies as "good" for a wakeboard team.

Maybe your HS 180 landings arent good because you aren't very comfortable riding switch? Work on that. I know thats why I can't land my 180s.

I'm sure that will help with my riding in general. I am fine with TS 180's. I think it's just landing on my toe edge is what is sketchy for me.

Even if you don't leave a message, feel free to vote. I just want to get an idea of what you all think would be the one trick that would be the best to be able to do in a competition if you only had time to learn one.
