|
|
Really want to get the backroll this season, so have tried throwing a few. Only got my this attempt on video before we ran out of battery. Had a few others which were a little closer but this video is pretty close to where I am at.

Any advice would be appreciated as no one i ride with can land this trick so kinda tough trying to figure it out one wreck at a time.
Thanks! |

| try to get a little harder cut at the wake to speed it up and as soon as you see the water on the way around find some to focus on like the boat or shore. Don't keep looking at the water or you will end up in it. Focusing on the boat or shore will help you keep your head/chest up and get you in the right position for landing. |

Thanks for the advice. Read a lot and folks cautioned to not take too hard of a cut so trying not to do that...but if you think it will help I will definately try that.
What do you think about the rotation? Do I have enough height?
Thanks! |

| When you throw your head down to initiate the rotation, you need to throw it towards your toes. You're doing something funky there and it's putting you into a weird flat OA ole 3 type spin. |

Little harder and make sure to look up in the sky over your lead shoulder and pop all the way. Should feel like a normal easy hs jump, the harder you cut the faster the roation will and the more you will pop. My best ones are when I take it easy, and all you need to really do is hold on and it lands itself. Your first few are going to be sketchy on the landing and focusing on something like the boat will help you pull out on the landing.
Don't look down between your toes unless this is how your currently doing it. Thats a mexican roll which is a little different. Stick with whatever worked on the video and keep fine tuning it. Everyone does stuff differently and use what works for you. It's all progression. Getting the balls and rotation to get as far as you have is step 1, now just keep doing it and fine tune the landing and the pop. Where you look on take off is the most important along with a good progressive pop. |

| Oh yeah I should add I just landed my first one last week, it took about 10-15 times before I could get the landing down and all I changed was to focus on the tower. |

Don't squat so much on your approach.
Seated position = less line tension
Tall position = more line tension
Backroll is a load-and-release trick...load the line as much as possible and release as you leave the wake. The reason you don't get all the way around on the rotation could be because of the reduced line tension from the seated approach. |

| I read that you look over your back shoulder upon take off...after that do you then try to find the tower of the boat on the landing? |

| You see blue sky then as soon as you see the water on your way around find the boat or something on the shore to focus on. This will give you some balance and pull you out of the roll. |

| The biggest thing is edge through the wake. The first few I landed, I cased the wake. I really had to concentrate on not throwing the trick to soon. |
