|
|
Two weekends ago I finally landed my first raley. It was super huge fully laid out and arms at full extension. Unfortunately, we didn't get it on tape, and my other attempts were...well we won't talk about that.
This past weekend I finally got one on tape. Granted it wasn't nearly as huge as the first one, but I think I at least got the timing down right. Hopefully this week I can get a better one on vid.
Check it out and critique. I already know that I let off my edge a little bit before I hit the wake. I think that that is what keeps me from getting the pop that I needed to take it big.
Cheers.

| i don't care if you say that one wasn't as big. That was damned nice, congrats. Don't know anything about raleys, but it did look like you let that edge out a lil early. |

| Wow, you must be stoked. It looks killer. Do you mind me asking how many times you have crashed before you landed one? Were the crashes as bad as they say? |

Over the 4 or so years that I have been trying it I have probably ate it about a dozen times. I really didn't try or atleast have the skill to really do it until about last year. My first couple of attemps a long time ago resulted in two broken ribs on separate attempts. I think that part of it was my jacket that I used to wear. I was breaking my ribs on the straps and big platic buckles. I now board with a Flak jacket and haven't hurt my self yet.
The falls really aren't that bad as long as you prepare for them. The main thing to remember is you have to commit to doing them. If you half ass it your not gonna make it. Also....it's all about timing. Too early and you will just belly flop. You want to make sure that you have completely loaded the line going up the wake before you let it out.
Hopefully I will get a better vid this weekend. |

| that was really good. i'm thinking about trying one this weekend. do you have to cut really hard to do them? and do you think it's a good idea to slow the boat down a bit for the first few attempts?? |

| Yes you do have to cut hard. I actually prefer a faster boat speed. The faster you are going the easier it will be to load the line to get the loaded pendulum effect going. |
