I know...video quality is horrible, it won't focus for some reason.
She's still a little wobbly on her feet, using my new CWB Torq L-XL bindings and a CWB Nirvana board...so I don't expect her to have too much control yet.
But, I'm really proud of her, I think she's doing great. I told her to learn how to stay up and balance and carve a little before she starts trying to do tricks, but she won't give up. I guess she wants to nail the 180 before any of us "boys" do it.
I nailed a 180 yesterday my first try, then realized "Hey WTF I'm "backwards", and I don't know how to board like this" and promptly fell on my ass. Tons of fun though. I've got a feeling now she's going to really want her own board now instead of riding ours.
In the video, I'm sure you guys can pick up all on what she's doing wrong, it looks like she's struggling to stay up, like, leaning too far back, and pulling the rope up to her chest? Looks un-natural... I know a good speed is 19-20 MPH or so, but when we get up much more than 10-12, her eyes get huge and she looks down at the water and lets go. I guess we'll just have to get her used to being on top of the water before trying to go much faster? It'd be a lot easier to stay on top of the water going faster, but, I guess she doesn't want to kiss it going that fast...is my guess.
Let me know, thanks!

That's awesome that she is hooked. I watched the video it seems like she brings her hands up too high. She should try to keep them closer to her hip.
But thats awesome that she is getting out there and doing it! _________________ "It must be the moonlight or the bottle of goldslagger that brings out the romance in a girl" - Out Cold |

CONGRATS TO HER!!
Yeah she keeps pulling the rope into her body and it's up too high. Tell her to think about putting it down at her lead hip. I think all newbies do this when they first get up, guess it feels like what you should do.
And about the speed - just slowly increase it when she is riding (like 1mph every 2 minutes when she's able to ride that long). That way she won't get so used to riding so slow, because once she gets used to that she won't want to go any faster even though she will need to in order to progress.
Other than that, just tell her to keep practicing and it will get easier! |

| YAY congrats to you and your lady! Glad she finally came around. See it was only a matter of time but you are right, she will be looking to find her own gear soon enough. |
